The inability to put a thread on ignore without putting the creator on ignore....when you don't want to ignore the author but do want to ignore the thread.....and I know I can just not open it but I'm all honesty I'd rather not even see it...

I know how you feel...... and I'm in it.
Correction, was in it.

And then when the person you had on ignore, and were blissfully not seeing their posts or threads, throws a hissy fit and deletes their profile, all their posts and threads re-appear!

Does the old user appear as “Deleted Member”. Or “Deleted Member 123”

If it’s the second then they just ignore the new name, and it should go back to how it was
One for @Beedee to action. I actually don't have anyone on ignore, didn't even before becoming a mod, but it's interesting to know how things work. I've been tempted but I always thought it would make threads disjointed so didn't bother. Yes, I do regret this at times 😄

It's "Deleted Member" with a number, but the name is unselectable and shows with a title of "Guest".

Yes, I try not to ignore too many people as it does make threads hard to read, especially as most of the people I'd like to ignore tend to be quite prolific with their very very often repeated and never changing opinions.

My wife not understanding what doors are for.
We have the heating on because its frosty outside.
She comes in from supermarket, drops two bags in hallway, goes back out to car on the roadside leaving door wide open.
I pick up bags to take to kitchen and kick door shut. Unpacking bags when she comes back in and leaves door wide open actually saying "Ooh, it's freezing out".
I ask why door is bluddy wide open.
She says "'Cos I'm going back out!"
I foolishly demonstrate how a door works by closing and opening it.
I get the death stare.
Its the same with lights.
"Why have you left the landing light on?"
"Cos I'm going back up in a minute".

My wife is extolling the virtues of Luften. Some German concept where you have the windows open even when it’s freezing outside.

I keep closing them, she keeps opening them 🥴

Went round to my lads the other day, he had all the windows open. He said it gets rid of stale air.
I stayed 5mins and got off. I was worried about frostbite
