The chicken would’ve been a bumper pack shared with housemates if that makes me seem more of a pauper.
Was the number of pieces of chicken divisible by the number of housemates?
If not, did you cut up one or two of the pieces and all pay the same or did you work out the cost-per-piece and pay according to who got how many?

Ah, the student days - what fun it wasn't, sometimes (or often).

The counter to that is if you have a bag for overhead. Fine on Easyjet for example as you get on first, plenty of space overhead. I was on 4 BA flights recently and they ran out of overhead space on all 4 flights. People had their bags at the far end to where their seat was, some had to go in the hold, defeating the idea of the quick escape afterwards. If you don't have a bag to put up then you are 100% right. If you do, it isn't always so simple.
Agree entirely with this comment. Mrs 3OTT likes to be at the front or close as it defeats the idea of SB if we are in Row 5 and the bags in row 18. We travelled to Australia ,NZ and return with hand baggage. Also if bags are not nearby light fingered people may check their contents

That there is no software update available that would upgrade my Pure DAB radio to be able to receive DAB+ channels. Not quite sure how this is going to affect my normal listening other than that I’ll lose Classic fM from January. And that is a pain. Yes I can listen on my TV, iPad or laptop - but no longer on my bedside radio.

ETA…realised that of course my car radio listening. I listen to a lot of Classic fM this time of year and I’ll have to switch from DAB to FM in the car. I’m sure that there are wider benefits of DAB+ that I’m currently not feeling.

Often it was whoever could afford it at the time and then get paid back with cheap vodka at the weekend.

How did I make it out of uni? :D

Supermarket today. I've done the self scan thing, and am waiting at the check out for someone to come over and authorise the bottle of wine I'm buying. A woman is doing likewise at another checkout.

I catch a young lad's attention who comes over to serve me. I say "can you serve this lady first, she's been waiting longer than me?".

He says "of course" and does so. No thanks, acknowledgement or any kind of reaction at all from her, just lets him do his bit, pays and strolls off.

Whilst that is impressive isn't the last bit what locks are for

£6.70 for a coffee & a glass, not a pint, of coke. £12 for a gammon steak. £13 for chicken wings and garlic bread. Over £30…

I paid €2.70 for a coffee & coke on Wednesday. And €22 for 2x 3 course meals…

At least the taxi fare from Manchester airport to the hotel at the Trafford Centre was comparable-ish.

For carry on bags you shouldn't have to. You don't have a lock on your ruck sack/ shoulder bag, it's no different really.

I have 2 big cases with locks, my carry on bags don't.

Oh we always lock our carry bag because it leaves our sight on the plane half the time so just not worth the risk

Simple coded lock no drama

My team from work went out for an early christmas meal last night at Brown's. The most expensive and by far the worst meal out I've had in ages. It comfortable undercut my very low expectations.

Ah…see…I’ve come to a place where when I do a good deed I do it as I consider it the right thing to do, but not for any thanks or reward I might in the past have sought or expected at the time. Much easier that way I find, as I don’t want to build up any resentments when nothing is forthcoming. Life’s too short. Mind you…it is bleedin’ irritating at times when you don’t get any thanks - I just don’t expect any, and when I get thanks well that’s a bonus 👍

We went there a couple of years ago, very disappointed, several things I had my eye on were finished (Saturday evening 7pm) place was cramped and we felt very rushed.

My wife often makes the point that you don't know what kind of day a stranger has had. They could have had a really bad one and are feeling so low, they don't want to interact with anyone. I get that, but as you say, it's still irritating when you do someone a good turn and they blank you!

As my mum used to say “ Manners cost nothing”
