You make it sound like the players are there because they want to be, rather than being there for the money....
Of course there's money involved..
This is exactly what LIV should have dreamed up.
Doesn't step on any toes, unlimited potential and you can get all the best players involved.
But it's not real golf and isn't trying to be.

If LIV and the Saudis had come along with this clown show they'd have been laughed off the face of the earth. Tiger and Rory could tell some people you can plait fog and they'd believe them .

I disagree on your last point, it is real golf - simulator golf is a massive and growing market and a lot of people will use it as their primary access to the sport - they'll really buy into the concept of TGL.

Just look how MMA is now swallowing up traditional boxing - TGL and LIV could actually combine to take golf into a new era.

Funny thing is. TGL has a load of investors and has sold franchises.
The very thing LiV keeps telling us they are in talks about but never deliver.

Unlike LiV, TGL isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s tapping into a new market. It’s got a few things going for it.

Tiger
A short format.
It will appeal to a different audience.
The players are likeable.

TGL is pin money in comparison to LIV BiM, and how much have they sold these franchises for - anybody seen any figures quoted? I'd imagine they are merely endorsements from famous people, in return for a few champagne receptions and 'ringside' seats.

God, you really do hate Tiger and Rory don't you... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Rory is a great golfer, but it stops there.

Tiger is a legend, changed the game of golf but empowered the PGAT too much - I actually think it's quite sad and borderline disgraceful how the PGAT have tried to use him as a tool against the challenges that LIV brought to the table. TGL will of course be perfect for him given his injuries.

It doesn’t have to publish figures.

LiV has to keep going on about the money because that is the only thing it has

So you get 2 points for a win, err, 2 points for a slower win, 1 point for losing slowly but zero points for losing quickly….

I'm gonna guess this will be heavily linked to in-play betting and the whole area of sport gambling with revenue share

Can they do that on a simulator? I'd be questioning the outcomes continually - Let's face it, we all have our doubts about whether the numbers get tweaked by the system when we go for a club fitting.

I'd imagine you're right by the way - just putting the point forwards that it might not be totally 'sporting', in that regard,

One thing that struck me this morning as I take in the counter views about it not being proper golf, it's just entertainment, a show etc...

Why aren't there any females taking part?

Electronics already in lots of areas of gambling (& I read its just the tee shots on the sim, switch to artificial 'pitch' for short game and putting)

Maybe they were asked and didn’t want to play.

Why are there no females taking part in LiV events?

Yeah, I suppose it's no different to VAR in Football - which seems to be used as a system to create controversy and drive interest rather than apply fairness to the game, but there's another thread for that..

I'll stick my neck out here and predict Tiger performs better than most of the other players a good deal of the time..

I don't know, I wish there were - a female LIV series has been discussed and of course, the Saudis are heavily financially involved in the Aramco series so maybe they don't feel the time is right to launch or finance it just yet.

The PGAT had a a great opportunity here to be ground-break rather than emulate, but for some reason, they chose not to. Given the divide between the sexes that still exists in the game, it would have been an ideal opportunity to get some women on board.

Is TGL run by the PGAT?

It's part owned by them, just like the now PGA European Tour. Come on BiM, a blind man on a galloping horse can see this is all part of the PGAT portfolio - which is why there are no women involved.
I haven’t looked into it that closely so other than Tiger and Rory’s involvement I couldn’t tell you who part owns it.

To be honest, the format doesn’t interest me all that much. I may watch it if it pops up on YT but otherwise I couldn’t care less.

Didn’t a woman play in a PGAT event recently?
