The innuendo isn't relevant, that's not what the accusation is.
Don't watch Scott, Henry, carragher and Richards and their conversations about Brest if I were you. šŸ˜…
If the innuendo isn't relevant, then why do the press seem it is? You have actually backed up my irritation by highlighting the double standards.

And please do not try and make me out to be some kind of snowflake by insinuating that I am offended by the jokes. My irritation is double standards, not the jokes themselves.

It seems like the issue is reporters trying to make a story out of the flimsy information they do have rather than just admitting they don't have all the facts.

If you can't discern the difference between the two situations then there's not much more to say , innuendo is in many TV programs not just GBBO , the comparison between the 2 is laughable and your looking for something that just isn't there.

They certainly donā€™t have all the facts but they have the accusations/allegations both named and anonymous (or not giving permission to use their name) in written, recorded and video form. These on their own are pretty damning not in just what he has said but also how he has acted on seemingly a lot of occasions over a long time.

I thing Gregg is just a victim of his time. 60 year old bloke from Peckham worked as a barrow boy until he was in his mid twenties, he probably developed a coarser style of language than most. He probably thought he was just being a cheeky chappie, a bit near the knuckle but ā€œjust a laughā€ Unfortunately what was ok 30 years ago is not now, and he has continued his ā€œcheekinessā€ with young girls which is completely unacceptable.

Put him out to grass sharpish and move on.

Oh btw what the hell is wrong with Rod Stewart? Calling him out now on Twitter for giving his young wife a hard time on Masterchef in 2021. He should have sorted it out then, privately.

Also - and this wasn't my observation but I someone else point it out online - he accused Gregg of bullying while simultaneously lambasting his appearance of being bald and 'chubby'. What a doughnut.

Iā€™m older than that and certainly am aware enough that times have moved on and what might have been, if not acceptable, but maybe more commonplace 30 or 40 years ago, certainly arenā€™t today especially with younger colleagues who have not been subject to that behaviour thankfully.

You have to be fairly dumb not to realise that this is totally unacceptable in the the workplace and smacks of arrogance. He obviously made a lot of people uncomfortable to say the least.

The comments/jokes/ banter are bad enough but the actions reinforce an attitude which you wouldnā€™t have done in the workplace for a very long time.

Yes I think Fairly dumb and arrogance could be Greggs family motto.

It reminds me of Keys and Gray a few years ago, just dinosaurs, the world has moved on.

We were discussing this in the office today, all guys and gals 58-68, the general consensus was heā€™s just past his expiration date.

I am not referring to the other stuff, that is clearly wrong. What I am referring to is the reporting of Wallace saying to a female celebrity that he would 'happily eat their little tart' and being slagged off for it. Much more (and worse) is said every week on Bake Off and that is seen as great humour and edgy - by the same publications. Is it too much to ask for to get balanced reporting?
Actual words "I'd happily munch the living daylights out of your little tart".
If you're the subject of accusations of inappropriate behavior and lewd innuendo you have to be an idiot to make such a remark.

I'm pretty sure GW has been in the press before for basically behaving like a total twit. Along the lines of "do you know who I am" etc at restaurants...

The phrase that stood out for me, as what I imagine is true, and somewhat threatening, was his habit of staring directly at a woman's breasts when speaking to them "he was blatantly doing it, because he believed he could", almost daring them to say something...

Did you actually read my original irritation? I am irritated by the double standards of the media due to the fact they celebrate some innuendo but want to try and make out that Wallace is the devil for doing the same.
I am not making out that harmless joking is bad or anything, you are looking for things that arenā€™t there.

Not knocking what you've said, but it reminded me of some stuff I read earlier today defending him and using his background as mitigation. I found it irritating and insulting that the writers obviously think that everyone from a working class background knows no better than to be an ignorant, sexist plebb in 2024.
