Random Irritations

Ouch. I never do ours together as always found it dearer. Use topcashback for quotes and get some money back as well. I've had £45 and £38 this year plus money for car insurance as well. I can let you have a referral link if you're not a menber.
Thank you kindly.
I've got a few weeks yet.
Just did Compare and they range from £230 up to £750 for identical cover. 🤔

Just back from a funeral of a colleague who died in service just two months short of his retirement.

The lack of representation from any senior management figures other than his immediate boss was disgraceful. You can pretty much guarantee that if he’d worked in the guildhall and not as a lowly grave digger everyone would have been given a day off to go. (I work within local government before you ask)

Just goes to show that nobody gives a damn about you and you’re just a number to certain people.

Well, his family know that those who attended cared.😑
Better than others turning up just to be seen there as "duty".

Saw this sign in a lay-by in Leicestershire today.
I'm still trying to figure out exactly what they are trying to say to us...

My parents-in-law were paying over £1500 for both for a standard 4 bed in Upminster 9 years ago. Due to bereavement we took over management of the household bills - we couldn’t find at the time anyone who would do it for more than £450 with every extra added.
This is the price you pay for staying loyal over the years. As I have said before, some of these institutions’ business model is to prey on the elderly and vulnerable. Odious business practice.

A firm of solicitors wrote to me on behalf of Sainsburys alleging I drove off without paying for petrol. I replied that they were referring to an incident 35 days previous (now 62 days) of which I have no recollection. I asked for evidence assuring them I'd pay at once if provided.
I received no reply but later got a letter identical to the first. I wrote to them again repeating my request for proof.
Again ignored.
The third letter arrived yesterday and, of course, the tone has changed.
Initially it was "We understand that customers sometimes inadvertently drive off....."
Now its ramped up to "Failure to pay may support the fact it was your dishonest intention never to pay."
Then they go on to mention legal proceedings and police (the Theft Act 1978) if I dont pay in full in 7 days, plus their "collection fee".
My wife is bricking herself, I'm doing my mule impression.
No wonder people panic and cave in.
This firm has a 1* rating on Trustpilot.
A 1* review, by me, on Trustpilot ending "Abta next" prompted an immediate response by TUI for details.
Ask your CEO, mentioned in the review.
He has full details.

US commentators of football. Especially when they try and copy South American commentators when a goal is scored, and scream goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal for about one minute, which is also incredibly annoying

Having to follow someone doing around 30 MPH along the A39 (lots of 50MPH sections) from just outside Bridgewater all the way to just outside Minehead. There must have been nearly 30 /vans/lorries/cars behind them.

Took me that long to become the second car behind them and finally overtake.

Living in Lincoln, that isn't uncommon for me. Especially if I need to travel east
