My brother had a heart attack on Wednesday 2 years ago. He was rushed to hospital in Kirkcaldy where they did tests. The results came back on Thursday and he was taken the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh. On Friday, he had a stent fitted and was home on Saturday.
Can you imagine what that would have cost in the US
We have friends who live in New York, he has a good and well paid job, but the pay is not what will keep him going until they throw him out. It’s the health insurance he gets through his employer. The cost of equivalent funded by himself is astronomical…beyond comprehension for most Brits.

But most Brits need to have a look at the cost of comprehensive health insurance in the UK, especially to include an existing health condition - if they can get accepted that is. My Mrs has health cover continued after I finished with the provider I had through my employer. Yet that is still costing over £250/month - and that is with an excess of about £3000. Criticise the NHS if you will, but do not be blind to the costs of the alternative

She's just left.

What?
I wasn't criticising the NHS, I was praising them.
And I'm certainly not blind to the costs of the alternative.
Ach…how words can be misconstrued…🙄

It was a generic ‘you’ - I wasn’t referencing your comment…maybe I should have said ‘One can criticise…’ I was actually 100% agreeing with you.

I know I’m part of the problem but just the traffic!
How can it be that the entire population of the town needs to travel out of town for work and everyone who works in the town seems to live outside and has to commute into town 😧

Bigfoot making the final of Masked Singer when he's absolutely crap.
He is, but he seems to be a crowd pleaser. Pretty obvious who it is, I think.
Kind of wish they were eliminated as soon as guessed correctly.
It's a dreadful waste of an hour of every Saturday evening but one of those stupidly addictive shows.

I follow the Reddit channel for it, because I'm rubbish at guessing and they are usually pretty nailed on on there, so I think I know who the final three are.
Alex Brooker, Lemar and Danny from McFly.

Interesting that the women both went out and three men remain for the final this year. My brain always tells me the best singers should get through but it never works that way. Bigfoot shouldn't have made the final 5 let alone final 3.

Cost of health insurance and treatment in the US is definitely higher. Although....unless you are the King and need prostate operation....how long would the average person in the UK have to wait for that treatment? I'd rather pay more and live than wait for ???? until you get treatment and possibly be too late. I have an insurance policy that cost £1700? for this year....if the local surgery can't arrange treatment/specialist within 2 weeks they will refer to a private hospital in Leeds....it will cost me some money depending on what it is and my rates jump up if I use it....but it's nice to know I should be seen by a specialist within a reasonable period of time.

Your logic is sound...however if you have an excess you need to have that cash in hand...of course you may not have an excess. With my Mrs, and IIRC, an excess of £1000 (rather than the £3000 we went with) would have increased her premium to about £500/month due to her existing condition.

Bushy eyebrows. Mine have taken on a life of their own and suddenly decided to grow in all directions. I can now, annoyingly, see them out of the corner of my eye. Words will be had and scissors will be needed.

My barber sorts mine at the end of a trim, along with a nose wax. The second one doesn’t hurt like it sounds like it will!
