I'm with you. KFC fries used to be very poor indeed, they have improved them slightly in the last year or two.

I used to have to have supercharger mayo to be able to eat them..now they are actually a pleasant taste so can eat alone

However that said id rather have a wrap no chips

An infraction may be required, and it’ll be a big one.

As you go through life there’s generational cycles. You reach a certain age and then your grandparents, and their siblings, die off. Then you reach that age when your parents, in-laws, aunts and uncles die off. And then you reach that age when your friends start to die off. It’s the natural cycle of life - can’t get away from it, it is what it is. And as you get older you become reconciled to that process. More accepting I guess.

[string of asterisks denoting Hobbit letting rip] One of our very best friends finally lost her battle with cancer last night, and it was more a war than a battle. She was given 18 months 14 years ago… they just ran out of stuff to cut out I guess. Fine, no not fine, expected. We knew it was coming. She’d been in a hospice for a few weeks.

Bu99er me sideways on the raggy end of a pineapple, as we were sat having a beer with friends, celebrating a life well lived, another friend turned up and said that Tony was taken in last night feeling unwell. They’d ran various tests late last night, inc. various scans. Pancreatic cancer, lung cancer and various hotspots throughout his body. At 87 the options are somewhat limited.

I may have a brandy to toast good friends later, and I may just howl at the moon in a very Anglo-Saxon way.

Forced to have McDonald’s last night due to A&E / out of hour’s doctors appointments etc … something totally wrong with the system will get stressed more if they carry on building houses and not forcing in the developer to build surgeries etc .. another irritation

Wife said her burger was bland and chips were not salty or crispy like they were in the past and this health rush was really making junk food rubbish 🤭

I suppose it’s like diluting whiskey down because it makes people drunk …

We have got to the point where self control doesn’t exist and now we need to be controlled… by the do gooder population of grey cardboard people

McDonald’s burgers in Spain are lovely. If they weren’t they wouldn’t sell. The chips etc are the same as in the U.K., but meat in Spain is cheap and cheerful, apart from lamb. There’s so much choice that if you don’t get it right you go bust.

Awful to hear, Bri. Many of us here are getting to that age when, if it doesn’t happen to us, it happens to friends around us.

I’d go for the toasting good friends option. I’m sure they would have expected nothing less.

The Dentist. I hate them. I have such sensitive teeth. I was only going for a scale and polish. I have paracetamol and some really strong tablets for knee and lower back. I took 2 . They did not work.

He is such a great guy but he gets more nervous than I. Anyway I pulled through but it was a struggle! He will be retiring soon and no ide what I will do then.

The hygienist at my dentist now uses a water jet thing instead of the old style descaling tool, might be worth asking if that is an option.
And it also tastes like lemon sherbet so double win

Before I moved, my previous dentist always did a S&P during checkups. And that buzzy thing was really painful.
Since moving, the hygenist at my new dentist uses the same device, but it's nowhere near as painful.
Perhaps there's a way of using it that is less traumatic?
Perhaps when your current dentist retires, you'll find his replacement is better?

Ditto plus it's warmed so not so tough on sensitive teeth. Still hate it though and squirm and sweat and grit my teeth (sort of!) and just hope I'll get through it before screaming STOP...

I have one for home use. Always put warm water in it and complements brushing perfectly. I am still surprised how much food debris my Waterpik gets out after I have brushed my teeth for at least 2 mins (thats using an Oral B electric multi action head thingy)

Get dentist to inject you first.
I went for hygiene treatment last week and she couldn't do my lower teeth with the jet wash thingy so she reverted to manual scraping for now. Going back in 6weeks for an injection first!

I'm sure that takes all the fun out of it for hygienists! I recall one some years back who finally got fed up of me jumping around like Tigger on a quiet day and said "you're clearly sensitive, I'll put some gel on your gums to make it easier if you like"...why the hell let me suffer for so long?!

I did tell her right at the start that I have sensitive teeth and gums, she even tried the gel but it didn't help at all. At one point I jumped so quickly it made her jump too! Which is when she said about injecting. 😩

I feel for you. I invariably postpone my 6 monthly appointment once as just can't face it. Then get my big girl pants on and try to be brave.

OK Confession time. Around 15 years' ago I had anaesthetic for a scale and polish. It was the best S and P ever. However I have gone through the pain barrier since.

I think it stems from many years' ago when my dentist and everything else were terrible.

Do not know why but I thought of you before I posted and thought Amanda will respond to this. You were the only person. However it is good it affects so many.

Whilst a generalisation I feel 'older' people are worse than youngsters
