Random Irritations

While we’re doing airports
I had to go through Gatwick twice last month and while I understand why they mix things up at security i.e liquids /laptops in/out etc its bloomin annoying to transit when its busy and the ‘yellers’ are all shouting over each other

(yellers are the staff that are supposed to be giving instructions for their particular Q but its just a mash of noise)

On the plus side gatwick has a good greggs

Good and Greggs are antonyms imho. ;)

One thing Birmingham has going for it is they now allow 2 litres of liquid in your hand luggage and can keep your electronics in your bag.

It’s just the overall attitude of the place.
For example they only allow their own monopoly taxi service to service the airport which is expensive and poor (over 1 hour waits even when you’ve booked) or the fact that they only allow one meet and greet parking firm to operate (their own) which means this service is four times more expensive than Heathrow or Gatwick. You have to pay for trollies and don’t get me started on drop off pricing - etc. etc.
You must be doing it wrong 🤣
We use the silver zone parking, frequent buses to the terminal and always get through check in and security with no fuss. Coming back has always been seamless as well.

Just drove over to ASDA to fill the tank and get a couple of things. On the way a large house spider appears in the top right of the windscreen and slower wanders over to the mirror/radar box and wiggled it's way inside out of sight. I'm sure he gave me the finger (the leg?) as he passed by. Now I have a 20 kilo housespider just waiting to launch itself into my lap at some inappropriate moment.......

I’m a fan of Newcastle airport. Driven there in a couple of hours from East Lothian loads of times and it is always well organised and not too busy.
Unfortunately, Jet2 who we used to use are now charging stupid prices for flights.

It has the smoothest and friendliest security section of any airport I've used. Always enough people working there, never queue for too long. Many airports make this section stressful to go through, Newcastle don't.

Agree about Jet2, it's a real shame. Always a pleasure to fly with but we haven't used them for a while now. Do you think they are wanting you on a full Jet2 package rather than flights only?

That is exactly what I think. Their packages are maybe decent value but we usually like to arrange our own apartments rather than hotels. Alvor and Tavira are our main destinations. Ryanair for the last few years as their flights are pretty much half the price once everything is added in.

Where I live if people have bits that they no longer want they leave them outside the front of their house (sometimes with a sign saying help yourself). And the local neighbours can then take anything they fancy. It’s normally kids toys and that sort of thing.
We put a load of bits out the front yesterday just looked out this morning someone has added a cracked TV a broken toaster and a fridge with no door.
It now looks like we have just put out a load of broken rubbish out there!!!!

Some councils will fine you for fly tipping so be careful how long you leave stuff out.

I am going to the dump this morning anyway so chucked the other stuff in as well.
The other bits are all going to the local charity shop.
I can’t work out if a neighbour has put the bits out there or someone has driven and emptied their car in our drive 😂

Really childish one this but a mate said it last night and made me laugh as well as think.

Why is it when you drop a really magnificent fart, there is no-one usually around to appreciate it? Could be noise, smell, vibration or all three  :ROFLMAO:

Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday...

Many of the flights on the timetables for a few months out are only released for 'holidays'. Late last year I wanted to book 'flight only' from Leeds to Mallorca on a particular day this September but all were 'holiday only'. I booked with Ryanair instead. As it happens I have never had an issue with Ryanair and only then when the destination airport was miles away from the city it 'serves'.
But I agree that Jet2 are the best. We will possibly use Newcastle next year.
