I used the warm water in a plastic bag method earlier this week, and I have to say it worked a treat.

Someone on this forum recommended a Swedish Ice Scraper.
Based on the recommendation I bought one and, my word, it is fantastic.

I made my own from a piece of Perspex almost 30 years ago, still going strong

The one they seem to love is Gastroenteritis. It makes them think they've got something very serious.
It is Latin for tummy trouble.

Gastro - stomach
Entero - intestine
Itis - problem

It could be something serious, but gastroenteritis does just mean tummy trouble.
Needs further investigation to find out whether it is viral infection, bacterial infection, physical defect or whatever.

Gastroenteritis - its a random irritation.

Oak edge banding. Horrible stuff, impossible to trim without it splitting or splintering at the edges. And I have 30+ panels to do.

Have you tried using a hair dryer to soften the wood, that should stop it splitting

It’s iron on so gets softened as the adhesive melts. It’s the grain structure of oak that is the problem when it’s sliced so thin (0.6mm).

I’ve tried dozens of tricks with it over the years and the conclusion is it’s just a bitch to work with.

All undiagnosed, if you ignore Dr Google and always a big drama

Have you tried using a hair dryer to soften the wood, that should stop it splitting

I’ve found a way but its incredibly time consuming, not perfect still but hella better.

Breaking the long grain edge of the banding tape with 120 grit sandpaper on a cork block and then coming back with a stanley blade very slowly and carefully then sanding out the excess and breaking the corner.

Looks like the only feasible way for a clean(ish) finish.

Woke has been used as a a pejorative for various leftist movements and ideologies since 2020.

Also a lot of folk on Black Twitter think white peoples using it is Cultural Appropriation. So Caveat Utilitor chaps.

It hasn't evolved. It's been hijacked by the media to drum up disharmony against people who question the norm.

So on Thursday afternoon the physios came , did some stairs and said you are almost ready to go home
(Been in Stoke Mandeville since 9 Jan)
They said they would come early on Friday (yesterday) and all being well, I’d be home yesterday.

They came at 3:30 pm and said I was ok to go, but we had missed the deadlines for pharmacy etc and I’d be out on Saturday (Today)

It’s now 12:30 and nothing has happened, I’m dressed ready to go.

Asked what was going on and a timescale

The docs have to do a discharge letter, that then goes to the pharmacy

The discharge letter hasn’t been done yet and the pharmacy closes at 4 pm

I can see myself being here tonight
Not even sure if the pharmacy is open tomorrow so it could even be Monday

I’m bed blocking and I hate it

Fingers crossed they get you home, Phil. The discharge process is so frustrating, not least because, if Stoke Mandeville is anything like my two local NHS hospitals, you can’t simply ask for a prescription to take to your local pharmacy.

On the two occasions I’ve been admitted the discharge was completed late afternoon.
