Random Irritations

I definitely don’t miss chasing customers for late payment, especially as by the time it reached my desk there were little in the way of niceties involved. We’d bend over backwards to help in an emergency, bringing staff in at weekends etc, without adding extra charges. Eventually We’d insist on upfront payment before accepting the order from a bad payer.
One of the agencies I regularly use for work was sold earlier in the year and have been merging their systems with their new owner's systems which has caused chaos. I had to chase up my September invoice with them to get paid and have had to chase up my October invoice as well. It got paid by bank transfer this morning but they've managed to pay it twice so they've paid me £23k instead of £11.5k. I've emailed them to ask if it's a Xmas bonus or if they'd like half of it back but haven't heard back from them yet.

This fad of putting salt on sweet things. Who made this up? Salted caramel - disgusting. Salted brownies - awful. I had a shortbread cookie yesterday - traditionally shortbread would be dusted in sugar, but they'd dusted it in salt instead. It just tastes weird! Like they ran out sugar and did it wrong. I'm convinced this is like an emperor's new clothes thing where everyone knows it tastes awful but nobody wants to admit it for some reason. You wouldn't put sugar on your fish and chips. 🤦🏻‍♂️
My grandad always put salt on his weetabix

Car parks where they use ever so slightly darker bricks than the rest to mark the bays, so that as soon as it gets wet, or they get dirty, nobody can see the bay markers so park even worse than normal. Whoever thought this was a good idea? If you want to use bricks to mark the bay, use white bricks!
Aren't they just ordinary bricks with white paint on them?
So they would just need to paint those slightly darker bricks with white paint.

Similar happened to me last year, submitted my Sept invoice for £11,000 and some dolt in the admin office got carried away and they paid me £110,000…

I was a tad surprised when the payment notification popped up on my phone.

New breed of Boris bikers in London.. those who now use Lime or Forest. They just seem to park it anywhere on a footpath and walk off.. absolutely no consideration… entitled Toffs..

Chat bots.

Home insurance is up in a couple of weeks. Hadn't heard anything form the current insurers, so went on the web site. No new quote, but noticed auto renew was switched on. Clicked on it, and it said to change it, go to live chat.

Went to live chat, got the virtual assistant. Typed in "cancel auto renew". 'Sorry I didn't understand that". Tried a few variants, no joy. It eventually said "I'll transfer you to one of our support staff" only to then tell me that no-one is available.

Got this every time I tried on Thursday and Friday. Feels like they are making it hard deliberately, so that folk give up and accept their renewal quote when it finally arrives.

You are within your rights to cancel your auto renewal even after it renews up to 14 days for a full refund

I've had it once where I forgot to cancel and just got refunded

Pain in the bottom but it's your rights

Liverpool FC range of replica gear and other goods. So far superior to that of man city's that if it were translated into points, they would have already won the league. Nike are waaaaaaay ahead of puma. Christ I nearly bought something for me.

Someone been in the sauce a bit early? 🤪

Getting old. While definitely preferable to the alternative it still sucks. In my 20's and 30's I could play football on Saturday afternoon, go out afterwards and end up in a nightclub until 2am and then on to a house party, get up for Sunday morning football, after two hours sleep, and then go out on the beers all afternoon and still be fine to get up and go to work on Monday morning. Now I'm in my late 40's and if I sleep a bit funny I'm in pain for days.
