Random Irritations

Exactly. We had a bin next to a wee kiddie’s swing park. People filled it quickly and then others just kept depositing poo bags on top of the bin. It wasn’t even meant to be a poo bin! Builder took it away as there were so many complaints.

East Lothian Council do a great job emptying these bins. 👍
When I worked in the parks service, 25% (yes, 25%) of our budget was used in clearing litter (emptying bins, dropped litter etc). That 25% could have been used for all sorts of useful, beneficial, things. And not one bit of that litter arrived in the park of its own accord. You brought it. You take it away. Why expect someone else to clear up after you?

This really makes my teeth grind, the times I walk the dog and come across heaps of rubbish where thoughtless people have had takeaways and drink and literally just walked away from the lot! 🤬
Something seriously wrong with people who will walk a couple of miles from the car park to a pretty view or somewhere secluded to enjoy food and drink with friends then leave it trashed 🤯

Hopefully not a stupid question, but does the med have the same sort of rips and undertows as UK beaches?

There are a few rips just near us. The sea has been especially rough in the last week, also evidenced by red flags on several days. Theres lifeguards on all the beaches but sometimes…. And there’s a beach several km’s south of us called the beach of the dead(playa de Los muertos) where, historically, bodies wash up. It’s not the safest bit of coastline.

Explain please. Having just come back from Cornwall I can attest to some pretty bloody good stuff, also when I visit the MIL, either twentymans at allonby or the one opposite the green at Silloth are 1st class.
When going in to Asda/Morissons, etc etc...the choice seems to be the usual cheap bad quality vanilla like ice cream. Possibly a chocolate choice and maybe some other wimpy "thing". Why isn't a good reasonably decent chocolate available? Seems that if they offered something different to Ben and Jerry's (won't go into the horrible price for those) they would sell plenty. I'm not expecting an amazing chocolate ice cream, but jeez......£5+ for a tiny carton of B+J is madness.
