Yep, would be very happy with just a big dinner with good company. Do not need anything else.

Ooof dessert wine is a good call. Hopefully I get a chance to nip to the specialist wine shop in town after work on Friday.I will see your bottle of wine and raise you a bottle of port with the cheese board and maybe a desert wine or a glass of plum Sake with the Pudding.
I love sprouts and so do all of my family.
I learnt from a cook/scientist many years ago is that what give them the bitter taste so many hate is when they are overcooked. It changes the chemical make up in them when cooked for too long.
Keep them slightly crisp and slightly crunchy and they will not taste bitter.
I just eat them as they come out of the pan of water (occasional I would add butter).I roast them with bacon and maple syrup and then add a bit of Parmesan before serving. Perfect
Indeed, I hate the way its been taken over by commercialism and stretched out so it starts in October, it just dilutes everything to a washed out version of what Christmas should be. A time for friends and family. And on the point of the thread.
Most of the responses to the opener, as they highlight perfectly that many seem, more likely choose, to completely miss or ignore the real point of Christmas and as a result end up focussing on the negative stuff that can make it stressful with little on the positive side of the ledger that can make Christmas Day a joyous and lovely day, a day that we can take hope from as we look forward together, or even by ourselves, with and for our family and friends.
And so wishing all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
That sounds delicious. I like to quickly blanch them, dry them, and then very quickly fry them in the oil released by chorizo. Serve with the chorizo pieces. Superb. Got some hot honey this year which I may serve with them.I roast them with bacon and maple syrup and then add a bit of Parmesan before serving. Perfect

Coming up with decent ideas for gifts when you're now too late to get it delivered in time.
Depends what it is. I was thinking to get some personalised golf balls for my dad, but the price they wanted adding to get it delivered in time was almost doubling the overall cost.Is it too late already. I had some sites down as having tomorrow as the last day to order for pre Xmas delivery.
I get irritated by people having to drag religion into Christmas. I flipflop between being a Christian Agnostic and a Christian Atheist. but that doesn't stop me very much enjoying this time of the year.
