We've been doing that for some years now.
Buy something - give it to sister-in-law - she gives me the cash - get it back on Christmas day wrapped up.
Not everything is like that - but it does solve some problems.

I suppose this is the point, I get the problem it solves but I am not a fan of doing something for the sake of doing it. For example, at work I used to hand out a few Xmas cards. It then become a problem unless you gave everyone a Xmas card so I stopped giving out any. Now with Xmas presents, i see that as an expression towards the recipient and is a considered gift bearing in mind what I know they like. Once that becomes automated, it becomes pointless to me as it removes any wider meaning in a gift and so is something I do not like to do. Again, I know this is just me as loads of people love them

Sadly my wife and I could not have kids and as such we have been expected to be part of everyone else plans and have rarely had the chance to develop a Christmas that we can call our own. Does not help that my wife's mum lives nearly 3 hours away and her dad nearly 6 hours away and so dropping in is not an option
Same. Her siblings and mine decide whether they are having a quiet christmas with the kids or a big family christmas. We make no plans so we can fill in the gaps to make sure no elderlies get left on their own.
As a result, MrsA and I have occasionally had to spend christmas apart. We don't love this time of year as much as we would like to.
We're the same and have no kids. Both my parents are dead. The in-laws live close by but the M-I-L is fed through a peg so can't enjoy the meal (or any meal actually) so we take a dinner to the F-I-L for Christmas night and do the pressies. Other than that Christmas day is the wife and myself so no pressure on getting up, having dinner at a set time or worrying about going anywhere or anyone coming. We do our own thing and perfectly happy in each others company

Having to buy presents for aunties, uncles, cousins. Have no clue what they want so I just send them some generic alcohol and chocolate combo. In return I get some item where they've tried to be 'thoughtful' and come up with something I will never use/wear in my life.

My wife insisting the Christmas tree can go where it was the last few years, despite the fact we now have a baby swing chair and playpen down that end and there's just no way it can all fit together without blocking view of the TV completely. Because of this ongoing disagreement we have still not yet put the tree up.

House next door looks like something out of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Neighbour asked me when our outdoor lights were going up. I said when I get them out of the loft... anyway Donna made me get out all the decs today. She's currently doing the tree etc, I am hoping it rains all week so I have an excuse to not bother with the external lights. ;)

I stopped doing bday and Xmas present with my mate a few years ago. I said I don't want her to get me anything. Buy for the kids by all means but I don't want a present I'd rather she saved her cash

Went out for dinner with another mate and her finance this weekend. She kept asking what to get me and my wife for Xmas. I said let's make the meal the Xmas present to each other.. sod buying an wrapping something that we don't need. Just have the company

Wife was delighted as she buys the presents so saved her buying something lol 😆
My brother in law and his wife agreed to stop buying presents for us and we now go out for a nice lunch instead. Probably costs the same but far more enjoyable.

Can I add my wife to the Christmas annoyance? I accept the other 11 months I'm on the list instead however..

11/12 months stuff has to be tidy. Leave something out for 2 mins it's put away

Yet December? Fine for boxes to be everywhere, less space because of the tree , storage boxes in our room hiding the kids presents and such

A Xmas jumper for every day of the month (for her and the kids) no not 31 just about 6 each they rotate

Anytime I come home is a rubbish netflix Xmas movie on the TV

Litterally came back upstairs after fling the washing Saturday night and she had started a movie I was like babe it's 10pm you will fall asleep in 30 mins why not watch a show ??

Kids were freezing 29th Nov when it was so cold at night ..I said right put their new duvets on the bed (bigger size) "but their sheets are Xmas the elf is bringing them on the 1st"

I was like seriously.. their cold 1 day early won't hurt.

The fact that nobody has invented an instant transporter yet and the 150 mile drive on packed roads to see the family.

Come on they had them on Star Trek in the 60s why has nobody got there yet?

I've just had to pay £5 to collect a Christmas Card from the sorting office because it had a counterfeit stamp on it!😵‍💫

It came from my wife's aunt whose husband is a Vicar!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

We better tell her so they can report where they bought them.
I had a Facebook item on my page for them for about half the standard rate. There were so many errors on the listing it was an absolute give away.

I once had a request to go to the post office to pay additional charge for a card. When I saw who it was from I just left it with them knowing it just a b'day card from MIL. I was not going to pay the charge

When I found out the 'theory' on how they work I would never use one even if they existed! Basically destroy all your atoms and create a perfect clone at the new location. 🤔 Scary.

If it spared me a 6 hour drive on Boxing Day i’d be lobbing in the prezzies and diving in after them!😆

And you can't transport holograms unless they have a mobile emitter and/or a hard light drive. Nowhere near that yet are we?

Had the same thing earlier this year when we got the MiL stamps from Amazon. Amazon must have been aware as we got an immediate refund when we reported it and returned the stamps.

My mate bought all his wedding invitation stamps off amazon - they were wondering why nobody even had the manners to RSVP never mind turn up! Ended up having to contact everyone over the phone to see if they'd received their invite before sending them out again.
