The most important role in the midfield tho.

Every great team has a player who does the dirty work to allow the rest of the team to perform

(Can't spell any of these)
Basquests
Makaelle
Kante
Casemero

Once a team gets that player they perform fantastically

Arsenal have partey now. For years they needed him , however he is 29 noe

Rice will fill the xhaka role or the partey role

Arsenal need squad depth he will add to that midfield

Their first team is class their reserves need work

There is a reason he doesn't miss many games for England at a young age

His best role is Cdm, he can do the driving runs but box to box is misusing him
I would chuck Fernandinho in there as well. Immense for City and Rodri has slotted in so well Fernandinho is now never mentioned.
But would Arsenal blow a lot of its budget on Rice and is it better spent on the squad. I don’t know.

Obv I'm biased, but I'd say it would depend what a team is looking for.
Rice is defo in the top couple of DMS, but I actually think JWPs freekicks distract people from how good a player he is. The fact Phillips makes the squad and he doesn't means I wouldn't consider caps to equal value...

He plays countless good balls each game, we just have nobody who can read em 😂

That being said. When we go down. We will be lucky to get 30m.

I understand the bias but please don't think that I don't rate JWP, I think he is excellent, however he is 28 now? So prime rather than rice at 23, if we had paid the 60 I'd of not batted an eyelid

We paid 50 for paquata who is obviously brilliant but not English, doesn't know the league so his price drops a bit .. as he isn't world class or even just below

If you go down I want JWP and that lavia in to replace rice

I think Rice is worth the money. Whatever it is. To whoever it is. I’d love to see him at Anfield. Much like Bellingham. But if we can’t afford one, we can’t afford the other - they’ll be similar price tags in my view.

But I don’t see Rice as a sitting/holding midfielder. He’s the player to me that looks like the “box to box” younger Gerrard. Pick the ball up from the defensive player and pick out the pass/drive through midfield.

Brilliant player. Like Bellingham. Yes please. Preferably together. But it’ll never happen!

Ironically seeing him try to be box to box for us has ruined our game. We need him to sit and protect the back line.

Since he has attempted to be prime Gerrard soucek is a shadow of his former self as he has to stay back all time rather than those last min runs into the box

It's no surprise our form has picked up since he started sitting back again

That’s fair. And I don’t watch West Ham properly enough to answer this, is that because he’s the best option you have for that role, or because it’s where he’s best for himself?

I’m enjoying the title race because it involves a different club for once. That said, I still want City to come out on top because I cannot stand Arsenal. Sorry, Fundy, but I hate your lot with a passion!

The relegation scrap is good because it’s so tight in the bottom half. Southampton missed a big opportunity last night, so I think they’re done for. I still think Leicester have a chance because they have some winnable fixtures, so I think Forest and Leeds will make up the bottom three.
If forest go down I wonder how many of the 127 players they signed this season will have to go 🤣

Bit of both. If you had a proper cdm he could do that but considering his shooting isnt the greatest I much prefer him breaking up play and then playing the pass to start the move

Must be some travel issues around Wembley - loads of empty seats from both sets

Looking like Bayern did a great move removing Nagelsmann and bringing in Tuchel 🤦‍♂️ - most thought it was bizzare at the time , Tuchel has now lost as many games in the 3 weeks he has been in charge than Nagelsmann did in the previous 6 months. Dortmund got a great chance to go on and win the league

Wrexham promoted with their Hollywood owners, wonder how much they’ll invest in league 2.
Back in the day there used to be a Highland league select vs Vauxhall Conference select, I’m not even sure the Highland league could compete with the National league these days.
Notts County must feel hard done by after their season as well.

Well that completes Wrexham’s journey

Was about a decade ago they nearly went under and needed £100k

A load of fans donated everything they had including selling cars , using life savings and getting second mortgages and they got the money sorted by the end of the day to help save their club

How come Wrexham kicked off later than the others?

I quite like the story but it's been done to death and gets a bit tiresome. Glad I don't support one of the teams competing against them...

Probably more down to fans prioritising what games they go to due to finances.
Costs a lot of money to follow a club up and down the country, cost of living is crazy at the minute.
Plus people have family commitments.
I agree, however it still makes me wonder how Manchester City can be called the richest club based on revenue when they struggle to sell out home games, semi and finals compared to Real madrid etc.

I’m amazed if anyone actually believes they truly earn more outside revenue than any of the historic big clubs like Madrid and Barcelona let alone Man Utd or Liverpool.

City last year couldn’t sell out their tickets for the Semi against Liverpool as well.

How can you hate Arsenal more than your nearest rivals? Wanting Man City to win as ManU doesnt sound right.
