The EFL Thread

If we thought Wednesday was bad, yesterday was on a whole new level.

The pitch at Vale Park is a disgrace and the game should never have gone ahead. Despite that we hammered them in the first half, go in 1-0 up with their keeper making numerous great saves.

Second half we sit back and the pitch becomes a proper quagmire, like something from the 70's. We hold on due to our own keeper stepping up and then concede in the final seconds of the game. A huge punt upfield that had more in common with a drop kick in rugby, the winger crosses and due to the mud, the ball sticks and their striker forces a scatty effort into the roof of the net
I only just got to watch the highlights of the game as I had a lot on.

How that was deemed a playable pitch I’ll never know, another late equaliser it’s like we’re trying to torture ourselves by remaining in the cusp of the play off spots rather than breaking into them.

That's got to be one of the worst games I've ever watched only made slightly palatable by the point we got from it .

You should have tried watching the Rotherham match - not one shot on target all game and the best chance was in the 95th minute when our keeper came up for a corner and had a free header from 8 yards. He put it 8 yards wide.
Currently 2nd bottom and 5 points from safety, not very hopeful that we will stay up.

Great to see Azeez doing really well at Millwall. Just a bittersweet feeling as we let him go for around a million when we were in financial trouble and never got to see the best of him. Given Millwall turned down £20m in January, hopefully he goes for a bit more in the summer and we get a nice windfall!

Have you got a bonus coming if Millwall get promoted?
Not beyond the realms of possibility

Not sure on that, I've heard we've got a 15% sell on clause but don't know anything else. Mark Bowen was in charge of that and despite his gambling issues, he was very clued up and did an amazing job as DOF in chaotic circumstances.

Ideal scenario would be a promotion clause, he does well and goes for silly money in a years time!

Azeez really is a class player, you could see it from day one. He had the touch, skill, pace and strength as a kid. He just lacked any football sense and end product. It came together in 23/24 and he improved week on week. I think if we had kept him, we would've gone up last season. He was good last season for Millwall but kept getting little injuries, if he can get rid of them there's nothing that can stop of him becoming a top PL player.

Amazing to think we've produced Olise, Gittens and now Azeez yet haven't seen more than £10m 😵

It’s that paragraph there that sticks in my throat 😢

What's worse is we only had one good season from Olise and it was the Covid one, so no one really got to see him. Watching him for Bayerm this season is scary, he'll be off to Real or Barca at some point. Not sure how England let him slip through the net and play for France. Miles better than Saka IMO.

I know it’s gutting. Loved watching him gutted I didn’t get to see more of him live. I think Saka is hugely overrated anyway, Olise far better player for me.

Superb comeback win for us today 1-0 down at home then goals In the 90th and 97th minute for a 2-1 win, leaves us a mere point outside the playoff spots. Even better as we have a game in hand over Huddersfield who sit a place above us.

Makes a huge change for us to score goals so late and upset another team as it’s usually us suffering the heartbreak.

Given the injury to Marriott I wasn't expecting much but thought we played quite well. Kept it on the ground more and played some good stuff at times. Tight game but Bradford are another top team I've seen and been surprised they're so high in the table. Bang average and offered nothing but the odd pot shot. Unfortunately one of them went straight through our keepers hands! Really getting concerned with JP, he's made at least 4 mistakes in the past month

Amazing to get 2 late goals to win the game though, not seen a finish like that for a long time! Credit to Richardson for switching to 442 and making the subs, two of them got the goals!

Really liked the look of the young Irish striker Patton when he came on. Only 19 but held it up well and showed a lot of agression and quality. In related news, Shane Long's son signed for the academy and marked his debut with a hatrick!

Having sneaked a couple of points we didn't deserve we battered Wrexham but couldn't find the net, one moment of quality gives them a goal.

What goes around comes around.

You should have enough to stay up? Guess that's the main aim and then add more quality over the summer.

Indeed , I think another 10 points sees us safe, so we don't have to rely on those below losing.
As for signing more quality, that needs money.
Our budget last year was around £10m, which was what the TV money allowed.

Another 3pts yesterday whilst those below mainly drew.
Just about deserved.
Think one more wine should be enough unless we push for the playoffs 🤣
