The Cricket Thread

Surely BazBall doesn't mean every ball has to be slogged? If we'd have used our brains a bit more the Aussies would have ker-nackered themselves out and we could go on our merry way without all this unnecessary damage.

Harry Brook.:LOL:. You better score a ton!

Every English wicket today has been given away. That's criminal in a test.
It's the Root wicket I can't fathom. If ever a player should have brought calm and avoid the short-ball, it's Root. His experience should have told him when he was caught off the no-ball, that maybe, just maybe, I should leave well alone.

Amazing how quickly I've gone from loving all out attack to shouting at the TV to block some balls and get in before playing shots!

Pretty much watching from behind the settee :-)

I mean have we been out to a proper good ball at all this innings? Make them work for it for crying out loud.

I'm out for the rest of the afternoon thank goodness!

My son has just messaged me, 'don't watch the highlights tonight, you might trash the tv'. I don't have to watch to know that Brook has done something stupid. He was trying hard last night to get out, he must have an appointment somewhere  (I've cleaned this up from the standard reply that everyone is thinking but it's 2023 folks and we must move on 😆 )

I'd take this type of risk-reward style any day over the durge of the Chris Silverwood era, even if it means losing occasionally. We were in control for a chunk of this Test Match and gave NZ a chance with a declaration and enforcing the follow-on. I'm sure in the previous reign we would have batted them out of the game and secured the series winning draw; a practical approach but dull.

Are you still in favour of this style of cricket despite them doing their best to try and throw away the ashes?
I’m certainly not a fan, sure having a blast is great entertainment when you pull it off but I’d take a result over brain dead batting every day.

100% yes. Never want to go back to that dull, so dull era. Look at the results then compared to now. We just need to be more sensible and its clear we have lost our heads when we didn't need too.

Glad I’m out for the day. In London with the lovely wife. I’m popping into BBC Sport to marvel at the stupidity of it all.

208-2 to 325 ao. Brainless.

Time to watch the GP.

We have thrown The Ashes away in two sessions. That’s what it boils down to.

The saving grace for me on a personal level is that I am sitting in a pub in Covent Garden. The beer is excellent but the playlist coming over the speakers has been put together by someone who really knows their music.

Not even the sight of England toiling in the field on the big screen can detract from a musical masterpiece.

EDIT: Although the spectacle of Bairstow standing up to Anderson is rather taking the gloss off things.

Don't know why we don't bat properly and score 600 every time and then bowl sensibly and skittle them for 150
