From the Polo down were all work cars kept for between 1 and 2 years from 2004.
The last Cactus is the current runabout and should last a while as its a 68 plater with 55k on the clock.

Ah there's something I missed the times 5 on one of them

Ford Escort
Ford Fiesta Zetec-S (Silver)
Ford Fiesta Zetec-S (Red)
Skoda Fabia vRS
Ford Focus
Seat Leon Cupra
Vauxhall Astra
Skoda Octavia vRS
Skoda Karoq
Volkswagen Passat
Skoda Superb

Passed in 2004, so 11 cars in 20 years or so. Believe the Fabia would have been the car I owned the longest. Loved that car and regretted getting rid of it

Think in my life I have owned just 5 cars.

Mini 1000 (1985-1988)
Vauxhall Vectra SRi 120 (1997-2001)
Renault Laguna Estate (2001-2005)
Peugeot 407 Estate (2009-2013)
Peugeot 508 Estate (2013-date)

The gaps were largely filled with company cars...

1990 Peugeot 205Gti 1.9
1990 Citroen BX17 Estate
1990 Ford Sierra
1994-1997 Ford Sierra Sapphire
2005-2009 Ford Mondeo Estate
and barely two months after i posted this originally (in Feb 2021) the 508 estate got replaced with a 3008....to be fair the 508 did have in excess of 260k miles on it...but from 2000 to 2020 my cars were generally worked pretty damned hard....the previous 407, Mondeo and Laguna all were retired with in excess of 150k miles on the clock.

See guy I work with keeps saying I've owned too many cars yet my list is 12 (including 3 cars that were technical the wife's) in 20 years

Judging by the list of people in similar time frame it's about right

Yeah, I imagine the time of us passing tests and getting cars, things were more ‘affordable’, credit easy to get, plenty of decent options on the market etc, so being able to chop and change was easily done.

I can’t remember how much my Fabia was when I bought it, but I don’t think it was much more than £9k, if that….and it was 3 years old or so. Never getting that car for that money these days

30 years driving, I've only had 10 cars, although one car does cover 43% of that time

1986 mk 2 Vauxhall Astra 1.3L - First car, saved hard while on very low wages to buy, unfortunately 8 months into ownership I wrote it off in a head on collision.
1988 mk 2 Vauxhall Astra 1.3L
1989 Ford Orion 1.6i Ghia
1991 Rover 220 GTI
1998 Ford Escort 1.8 GTI - Worst car I've owned
1998 Peugeot 306 GTI-6 - Road legal go-cart, great fun
2001 Audi A3 1.8T
2006 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro - My first brand-new car and kept it for 13 years, loved it and was sorry to see it go.
2019 Mazda MX5-RF - Mid-life crisis apparently
2021 Hyundai i30N

89 VW Polo
95 Renault Clio
03 Toyota Avensis
13 Toyota Auris

Not much to show for 33 years driving.

Think it shows how well made Toyotas are .. last 2 cars 10 and 11 years respectively by the looks?

My auris was my longest kept car, and my parents still have theirs that they got at the same time (2012)

I've had 5 cars in 40 years.
And 3 in the last 32 years.
Mind you, my purchases of brand new sets of irons have been 1977, 1992 and 2008.

I agree.
I bought my Corolla brand new off the brochure as it was a brand new model and didn't have a thing go wrong with it.
This one but in a dark blue...

Ironically most of my cars have had very little issues. Wear and tear stuff on the second hand ones. Did have to replace the clutch on my civic I bought off my mum but was over 10 years old

On the flip side the Corsa that was brand new had so many issues (car build quality related) I'll never get a vauxhall again

Funny the cars all had long warrantys (Toyota 5 years at time) but the vauxhall is 3 and that had all the issues

My Auris is an early Hybrid never had an issue, the Hybrid system (optional at the time) easily paid for itself as Petrol prices went mad.

TBF if it weren’t for COVID and I was still commuting it would have probably have been changed. Will probably go full EV this time but for every year I can defer it the technology gets better and hopefully the charging infrastructure.
