• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

All the cars you've had down the years

Understood from a reasonable search small electric cars will be in budget for a lot.

Companies like MG will be the ones to watch in the future. Budget tech but does its job

They will break the price I believe long term

Had a think about it but because I’m not really that interested in cars and generally just took what company offered or whatever just happened along I can’t remember specific models. But at a guess:
  • A Simca rally (shared with my brother)
  • an escort;
  • a Sierra;
  • a couple of rover 200s:
  • a rover 400;
  • a laguna;
  • a peugeot 307
  • a golf
  • a 3 series;
  • a 3 series tourer;
  • a Peugeot 206;
  • a couple of polos;
  • a qashqai;
  • a Ford Fusion
  • and a new golf.
Exciting eh..current cars are last two...the fusion is my mobile locker and does little more than take me the three miles to the golf club and the three miles back.

It will happen long term 100%

Only the cost of batteries holding back and they are dropping rapidly

Manufacturers are keeping the prices high ATM soon they won't have a choice

They cost less to run and break down less over the lifetime

Just have to get the charging network fully up and running

Plus what will the government/local councils do about home charging. I can think of quite a few roads just in the village where I live where that would be impossible without a major infrastructure rebuild.

There a few videos about massive charge only fuel stations and shell said all their forcourts will be split electric and petrol

So as charging speed increases they will have it so say 5-10 mins tops you up enough just like refueling

I've just put down a deposit for a Toyota GR Yaris CP (arrives May '22). Despite no test drive yet, I'm in for a proper treat if all the reviews are true.

I passed my test in 2021 and have owned a Ford Fiesta Titanium (2011) automatic ever since. We also have a Nissan Qashqai (2017) that I share driving with the wife when we're altogether.

Never been into cars, to me there just something to get me to A to B.

Best car is current one Vauxhall Crossland Atomatic but what’s even better it’s got heated seats.

Considering you were a driving instructor that's remarkably low , but that's just an observation rather than based on fact just seems lower than I thought would be

From the Polo down were all work cars kept for between 1 and 2 years from 2004.
The last Cactus is the current runabout and should last a while as its a 68 plater with 55k on the clock.
