I have been driving for over 50 years and, in that time, covered approximately 1.25 million miles ?

Can't remember all of them but since 2000 I have had:-
2 x Honda Accord
VW Passat
Mazda 6
SEAT Altea
Jaguar S Type
3 x C class Mercedes
Nissan Juke
Honda CRV
Hyundai Tucson

and a Fiat 500X 4WD with a 2 litre twin turbo diesel engine.
This was the only one that was any fun as its power to weight ratio meant it was pretty sharp and good for surprising some of the boy racers.

Other than that I am afraid that cars are, to me, just a means of transport.

With the advances in tech unless people proper trade down due to something happening in their lifes I find most of the time the car they currently drive is the best for one reason or another

4 cars since passing my test in 89
1977 VW Polo (bequeathed by Grandad)
1995 Renault Clio
2003 Toyota Avensis
2015 Toyota Auris

As you can see I don’t have much interest in cars ?, other than than the 1st car I’ve always had new cars so never really had any issues. Never loved them, never hated them.

For sure, but I don't think I will ever own another car like my CLS. I will keep it for as long as possible, but anything after will not be remotely in the same ball park. For a start, by the time I change this, this sort of car will just cease to exist.

Blimey this has made me realise I’ve owned some boring cars!

Past test in 1983.

British leyland Princess...This was my mums car but I drove it a lot. Still remember the registration number as regularly got pulled over by plod. (PDD 658W)

MK 2 escort (LYR 144P) written off down Mile End rd

MK 3 Escort (BRP 6OX)

Ford Sierra- forgot the reg as I looked like an adult now!

Vauxhall Vectra

XR2I- fun around town but not good for long journeys.

Volvo V40

Volvo XC60

Volvo XC40

Plus a few estates I used for work.

Escort
Astra
VW passat
Vauxhall Carlton- this was like a barge and with the back seats down I could lay flat in the back!

All in all pretty dreary stuff!

Not a long list for me, I tend to keep cars for a few years:

E reg Ford Fiesta rust bucket

07 - Golf GTi - mk 5
64 - BMW 220 Sport

The Golf was the pick of the bunch, although the beemer is a very good car as well

1979 VW Beetle - cost £100 and lasted a year. Decided it was time to scrap it when I did an emergency stop and one of the headlights missed the pedestrian by a couple of feet. It had already one of the running boards and both heat exchangers drop off.
1980 Dolomite Sprint - took it backwards through a fence at speed.
1982 2x Mini 1275GT - The first one didn't take kindly to jumping a hump backed bridge at speed. All the Dukes of Hazard stuff is bull.
1984 Hillman Avenger - valve through the rocker cover.
1989 - Renault 18 - boring.
1990 - Austin Maestro - double boring.
1991 - Vauxhall Cavalier - meh.
1992 - VW Golf - blew the head gasket.
1992 - Vauxhall Astra - went everywhere in it, till the clutch exploded
1994 - Rover 240 - nice.
1997 - Renault Clio - lovely car.
1998 - Peugeot 506 - loaner till
1998 - Citroen Xantia - 140,000 in 3 years. Wore it out.
2001 - Audi A4 - super reliable and smooth as...
2004 - Audi A4 - loaner till.
2004 - Audi A4 - super reliable etc.
2006 - Audi A3 - automatic. Got it as I was struggling with clutch after an accident.
2009 - Audi A6 - loved it but got bored.
2011 - Audi A5 - hated it. Slightly offset driving position caused lower back problems.
2012- Audi A6 - loved it but swapped it for
2015 - VW Passat CC - it was alright but...
2017 - BMW 420 Gran Coupe - about as much engineering as a loaf of bread. What a dog.

25 cars in 41 years. I could add another in 1992, Honda Accord I bought for the ex-wife. She didn't want it but took it and happily sold it on.

2018 - no more company cars... Kia Niro hybrid. I seriously loved this car but in 2 years of ownership the wife drove it twice. Swapped for...
2020 - Kia Picanto - I hate this car with a passion but HID drives it everywhere. She doesn't drink, and I like a couple of beers or glasses of wine.
2021 - still got the Picanto but working on the boss for a Kia Xceed.

Ooohh, a B210. Brother had one.....got a zillion miles to the gallon.
That was the first one and it ws a great little car. Comfortable, reliable, and it got 35+ mpg.
I only got rid of it when I moved to Manhattan and couldn't afford to park it anywhere safe (it was the early 80s), and you really don't need a car in NYC.

Don't care.
Don't like Google Maps.
I've tried it out with the new car (using Android Auto) and it's even worse than the current VW Group system.
Oh for the days of the wonderful SatNav in my Acura and my Honda...

Try Waze

You don't have to use Google maps it's just one app that works

Waze works aswell

Updates better than sat nav systems

1993 1988-vintage Audi 80
2000 1997-vintage Audi A4 1.8T - flying machine that I quickly flew into a cash barrier
2001 1998-vintage Audi A4 Estate - lesson learnt
2010 2008-vintage Audi A4 3.0TDI Quattro - what a machine  - loved all 180,000 miles I put on the clock
2020 2019-vintage Audi A4 35 - the sensible choice.

No thanks.
I don't want to be connected to "the cloud" for my navigation.
It is possible to have a comprehensive system that works well.
I've used them.
