Random Irritations

I was being sarcastic at your attempt to start an argument
A genuine question is not an attempt to start an argument.
I wasn't aware of the you tube you were pointing at.
If you had added the link in your initial irritation you wouldn't have got the question you got.
Not everyone on here is looking to argue.

Thought the tour was excellent and the Queens room is quite basic, although very tastefully done. Not the opulence one might expect.
Enjoyed a coffee and cake in the restaurant and liked the Royal Yacht logoed napkins and the way they did the logo on the cappuccino.
Reminds me of one of my irritations: the way some places insist on using a stencil so you get less chocolate sprinkles on your cappuccino.

Oh good, another argument
Have you never seen videos of people busking on the tube.
I haven't been on the tube in over 15 years but I know if these 2 idiots got on, I'd be getting off

Busking in the street is one thing. You can walk away from it or stop if you choose. Not a bad attempt at Elvis/ Big Boy Crudup but I wouldnt want to be hostage to it if I had to move to avoid it.
What if they got on a bus and did it?
Or worse, climbed in your ambulance!
Did you nut the woman who cheered at the end?

It was Eastern European folk music being played in a railway station waiting room in Blackburn this morning. Loudly.

Sky again. Current package up for renewal. My ex used to deal with it and seemed steep. My girlfriend called up as a new customer and was quoted less than half the monthly cost for exactly the same thing

Time of the year where I look at re-investing retained profit in the workshop business and need a couple of new machines. One being a wide belt sander which is annoying at a price of £10k but more annoying that it is on a 4 month lead time.

Other is a free standing mortiser which looks like a medieval torture device.

That company are a disgrace. When I phoned to renegotiate my package last year they actually told me I was still paying for a package which was no longer even available. I signed up to a deal way cheaper than the one I was on.

If I could be bothered to move I would, but my TV, broadband and mobile are all with different providers and are up for renewal at different times.

A fair bit of snow here last night and honestly the amount of idiots that can’t take the time to clear their car is unbelievable.
Accidents waiting to happen.

We’ve had this a few times with Sophia (now 5), sometimes she just wants one of us there whilst she falls asleep. Have found the best way is not to fight it, lay there for a few minutes then say we need the toilet and we will come back. Falls asleep by herself 95% of the time.
Our daughter went through a very difficult crying at bedtime phase. The following was posted elsewhere that describes how we coped…and what we did given she had been getting off to sleep.

As she grew older, she would cry when we put her to bed, and we would always pick her up and cradle her until she settled again, only to cry again when we put her back down. We were desperate to find a solution that could help settle our daughter and allow us to get some rest. Dr Christopher Green’s book, “Toddler Taming”, was top-rated at the time, and he espoused the technique of “controlled crying” as a sure way to get your child to settle and then sleep.

Controlled crying involves putting our daughter to bed, quickly comforting, settling and leaving her, saying something like “It’s bedtime now, time to sleep”, and nothing else - then periodically checking and reassuring her saying the same words, while she is settled. The idea was to help our daughter move away from needing us to feed or cuddle her to sleep. The key to the technique is that when our daughter cried, we would wait for a set amount of time before going back, say two minutes at first. Then we would leave her for a little longer each time – for example, four, six and eight minutes.

It wasn’t easy leaving our daughter to cry when our instinct was to pick her up. However, the controlled crying technique worked a treat for our girl, and she soon became a great sleeper.

Toddler Taming was our bible. Controlled crying worked…but it was emotionally difficult.

I think it’s a hard balance. There’s the other side of the argument that they stop crying because they have given up hope of you coming back and comforting them.

We picked up a new customer, large company, small orders. Fine, all good. Their accounts dept asked me for our bank details, signed copy. All done and emailed. Today they asked me to post them................Hello, it's 2025

I recall when I hadn't long passed my test and we had a heap of snow. I had a 30 minute drive to work and my boss was a bitch "well I got here". So left a bit late so it was light at least and cleared the car windows throughout. Didn't dawn on me to do the roof. 10 minutes later as I'm driving along the whole lot slid onto my windscreen. Lesson learnt!

PS Bitchy boss did similar a few days later when I decided sod her I'm not risking it. She got trapped for hours on her way home in the snow and was off for a few days...karma.
