Random Irritations

Leaving my current job when we break up for Xmas (taken holiday for the time I would work at the beginning of the New Year). Been here over 5 years, no days off sick, worked hard, rarely took all my holiday.

Now I am leaving, everyone in the office got a Xmas card from one of the partners, everyone except me. The partner in charge of my department gave everyone a bottle as a thank you for the year, except me.

Just seems very petty and it is not as if I have not put the hours in, done good work for the firm or left on bad terms. Makes you feel very unappreciated and now leaving with a sour taste in my mouth (also not expecting to see the usual Xmas bonus in my pay cheqiue tomorrow).

Good thing you are leaving, wouldn’t want to work in a place like that.

Why would you not take all your holiday?

Pressures of the job, files and clients are all in my name. Being a solicitor in a small firm is a bit like working on your own. Not saying it was right or sensible but it was just what happened.
Ah. Well I hope it's better where you next work.

Too many people making Christmas and other cakes

No cocoa or apricot jam in the shop today.
Going to do the last shop before Christmas tomorrow. As we are out over the weekend and away form 23rd over Christmas, I suspect I will be in the minority as I could probably only need a basket. Will be funny seeing all the others struggling to push their trollies full of stiff that will no doubt be wasted.

what was the word?

I did not know it then and I forgot it after leaving his office. I was never going to use it.

I think his face said a little about his thoughts about using using the word in the first instance.

In essence the word meant insufficient respect for authority figures. Trouble was in previous jobs I was the boss and a lot higher up in the companies I worked for than he and my supervisor were in this one.

Trouble for me is that the two items are part of my regular shopping but I only buy them when they are getting low. At least I have enough to get through Christmas.

Doing a careful scrutiny today of 'use buy dates' to avoid the supermarket until after Christmas.

Biggest thing I noticed was massive trolleys full of veggies all with use by 23rd December.
