Only Michelin place I have been is the Kitchin (several times), superb and affordable at lunch.

Another in our area is Paris House Woburn ( not sure if it’s still star distinction though ) - and it’s prob more affordable

But very nice. Done H&F, Coach, Butchers Tap (all Marlow) and his grill in Chelsea. Also had his food at various Pub in the Park events he hosts.

We have the Butchers Tap booked in for Feb

Stop kidding yourself! Unless you are a “young” climber, appraisals are a total waste of time even if done “well”.

There's surely always something worthwhile to do/say...... whichever side of the desk you're sitting.

Although, I agree, there's some awful corporate process and bad practice about.

I guess an appraisee who exceeds expectations, knows everything and is perfectly happy on their role might struggle to find value too. Unless their boss is very creative. Even where this is the case, some thanks is usually appreciated!😁

Nipping into Tesco and not having a Clubcard
Get the app, put it in your Google wallet / apple pay! I speak from equally bitter experience. I got stuffed in a Tesco's in Scotland earlier this year without being savvy to the card thing 😡.

I hate the whole two tier pricing system, it's annoying.

The Uber eats driver begging for a like when he took 40 mins to deliver the food ( it’s 10 mins away ) and it’s cold
Whilst irritating to you,it probably wasn’t their fault.
Doubt they picked up your food then went on a joy ride for 40mins.
Put a complaint in to Uber.

First world problems hey 😉

Yes the app is now on my phone, shouldn’t need to be though but over half of the shop seems to be tied to their Clubcard.

That's the trouble.

Appraisals done well are beneficial and motivating.

Appraisals done badly are truly awful and damaging.

On one of my appraisals the manager used a word as a major point that would have the majority of people reaching for a dictionary to understand it's meaning. He had to explain it to me and I have a good education.

Mind you I could not disagree with what he was saying.

Appraisals. Why is turning up, completing my work to the best of my ability and then going home not enough? We have to set some imaginary targets for me to instantly forget until the next time we tick this box.
Back in the day our annual appraisal grades were: Outstanding/Excellent/Good/Improvement Required.
Our Area Managers were expected to dish out the last category to some people in their team regardless, and ours would do whatever he was told.
I went into an appraisal having failed to hit my key targets. After about 30 mins it was clear where he was pushing me.
I then produced a range of Excel bar charts, prepared at home, that showed:
1 My branch had outperformed all other branches in the Area and, therefore, him.
2 My branch had outperformed all other Areas in our Region, and all other Regions, and, therefore, the Company.
He was flummoxed.
He muttered he was late for something and he'd study them in full later.
He emailed my appraisal some days later with Excellent but nothing in the comments box.
He would most certainly have been busy trying to copy my ploy for himself.
