Random Irritations

One of our new trainees. Just go home. Every shift she stays 2 hours after the finish time

4 trainees already in on the shift (which is 2 to many, you can't train that many at once) but it becomes 5 now. Running out of blooming chairs
Are they just trying to appear keen but not actually doing anything useful? Or do they just hate being at home?

I think its the latter. although I have my sources on other lines where she trained before and she did it there.. even got some other grades up to show them what its like in control rooms which didnt go down well before people have even passed.

sure make trainees feel welcome but the latest lot are far far too comfortable . makes it harder on them when they dont make it

Ah the old “waterproof shoes”

As with waterproof bags - there is a huge design fault

The big hole that you put your feet in
I once heard our Pro tell a member not to expect much more than 12mths from a pair!
Then again, the locker room is littered with expensive shoes that have never been cleaned.

The Stuburts on Amazon are £60 and will probably match the FJ's. I got two wet winters out of them.
A tube of glue will get me throught to March 😉

I bought Geckowear waterproof socks last year.
I think they're better than Sealskinz but it looks like they might not be fully trading anymore. They just feel like socks, whereas I always think Sealskinz feel like a plastic carrier bag sandwiched between 2 massive socks.

Depends on which Sealskinz you buy, there are many variations and yes, some do sound like a crisp bag when being worn.

Letting them dry naturally helps with that though, shoving them in a tumble dryer drastically reduces their life.

Recommended?
Definitely. Transformative.

Mine were about £20-25 but I've had them a while now. Wash every couple of wears, let them dry naturally.

They feel slightly odd when you first put them on but after about 10 seconds you forget about them. It's like the awkward feeling when you first put a base layer on, and then it's gone.

Never let me down, you don't worry about looking for a ball in the long, wet, grass for example.
