How expensive are pest controllers?? We were charged £240 on Tuesday for him inspecting and putting down traps, now we've just received an email saying it'll be another £290 odd for them to come back, remove the dead squirrels + nest and seal any entry points. Knocking on the door of 600 quid to get a couple of squirrels out, Jesus.Squirrels in the loft came back so we've had a pest control guy out here this morning. He goes up the ladder to have a look at the opening and where they've been getting in. Comes back into the lounge holding a crumpled old can of Carlsberg...
Basically the previous owner of our house was a bodge-jobber, we've repeatedly come across things not working properly, or just looking terrible, that he's bodged, so this is just the latest example. Plugged holes under the roof eaves with old cans of Carlsberg. Great work. I guess the funniest thing is that this actually did the job for 8 years or so since we only had the squirrel problems in the last year.
You could always buy the neccessary traps, poison and bait, place them, remove them after a while, dispose of the dead and seal up all the entry points yourself.......How expensive are pest controllers?? I can't do that or I would've done. The issue is they kept us in the dark about how much the second invoice would be and now I feel our hands are tied because they're essentially half-way through the job. Shady way to do business as it feels like an ambush. You could always buy the neccessary traps, poison and bait, place them, remove them after a while, dispose of the dead and seal up all the entry points yourself.......
I would say hes good value.
I understand your point, but I imagine they will need to spend more time next visit sealing all the access points up, plus disposal of trade waste isn't cheap and not something they SHOULD be throwing into a household waste bin.I can't do that or I would've done. You can make a job redundant. Making a person redundant without due cause is opening a whole can of worms.Or just make him redundant if they want to?
I reach 66 next January so spoke to my boss to give him a heads-up as it will take time to train up a replacement. I have continued to say they need a succession plan but it's never happened. But I also said to him that it I would consider working on a reduced hours week and which he took up straight away. One of my older colleagues turns 66 next month, still fit as a fiddle and a decent engineer. Apparently our manager has told him they want him to retire next month, this is despite him having already agreed he would work past retirement age.
I feel this one is going to get messy
I used to have a friend (now sadly passed) who used to shoot grey squirrels in his back garden with an air rifle. You could always buy the neccessary traps, poison and bait, place them, remove them after a while, dispose of the dead and seal up all the entry points yourself.......

They are vermin, but that wasn't for money. He's doing it as trade, so shouldnt really be putting his "trade waste" in the household bin.I used to have a friend (now sadly passed) who used to shoot grey squirrels in his back garden with an air rifle.

My understanding it is illegal to discriminate on age so that you can't really get rid of someone because of their age, in the same way you can't for their colour, creed or gender.

So many people who are so easily offended. The amount of people who have tried to file a complaint against JK Rawlings after her posting an opinion that was contrary to what they believe/want since the rule changed on hate crime in Scotland. I don't believe in hate crime, but I do believe in the right for people to have an opinion without being hounded just for it being different to theirs.
To quote “I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it”.
Some people just want to leap straight to the Death part.
Can you recommend an email provider that doesn't send ads and has more storage space.I’ve still got a Hotmail email address, I use it for anything that I think might result in a load of spam

Most normal people use Gmail
It’s free and is not linked to a broadband provider, so you can use it anywhere
IE having a BT internet.com email address might be problematic if you move your broadband to EE
Yeah, I got on the Gmail wagon early so I managed to register my name without any silly numbers after it. Like you said before, I have a second account (that I registered first actually) that I still use for websites and whatnot, so if the spam content ever gets too high I can just shut it down. Most normal people use Gmail
