It's the Tracker tariff. You have to be on it for a certain number of days and have a smart meter that can send half hourly readings. Mrs Colch gets an email the day before and has to opt into the "Power up"sessions.

She's just told me that she doesn't think that the tariff is the key thing but it is only available in certain postcodes.

Thank you. It appears that it isn’t available here.

There is a link to petition to try to encourage power network providers to work with Octopus to roll out the initiative.

The power up sessions are say If you live next to a wind farm and it's a way to use up the excess energy rather than turn them off during times where the grid is overpowered. Until battery storage is installed more across the board then the grid has to be managed dynamically. We stil have to use coal and gas atm to manage instant demand until that storage is up and running

Well actually it could be……. For them
The number of times we go to collect vehicles and find out that the address is incorrect or they are out at work with the car, or they thought it was next week etc etc is huge.

They need to plan their drivers jobs the day before and sometimes a big chunk of the plan goes to pot, because one link in the chain fails, they might be using your old car to pick up other drivers on route back to base, for example

So by phoning you, they have confirmed the address, confirmed that you know they are coming, probably given you a rough eta, so you know you can nip out to the shops at 10, coz they are not due till 2

I’d say good customer service 👍

I appreciate that, it was just the urgent in the message, all the details were confirmed last week and it's all the same.

But I'm just glad their still coming! Thought it was canceling it 😆

Hell yeah...a few years back I was unwell, googled my symptoms for a laugh and self diagnosed myself with Hansens Disease.
The problem is, the GP's are going that way. I've had this sinus inflamation for ages and my GP has introduced an online booking site (instead of just being able to call for an appointment, which is another irritation). After I had put all of my symptoms in, the diagnosis was Cavernous Nasal Thrombosis & I should go straight to A&E - err, no, it's just a nasal inflammation.
I just ended up using a virtual doctor facility that I have through work and got a video appointment in a couple of hours.
What made it worse was, it them took them 3 weeks to call me to make an appointment - good job it wasn't serious!

Measles on the rise again because parents aren't getting their kids vaccinated. I don't know if they don't bother/care or believe the conspiracy theorists (although why people would believe what a complete stranger spouts on social media against medical advice has always astounded me).
I had both my kids given the MMR jab with no issues. The "research" on the MMR vaccine has been debunked. But I think that some people read things to back up their own beliefs/prejudices and then say "look, there you are!" with no facts to back them up.
I despair, I really do.

Probably the same conspiracists that thought Covid was a fad, made up, or some government plot. Too late when you are ICU or worse the mortuary. Why not give your child the best chance of a healthy start and prevent as much as possible.

I thought I heard they were offering separate jabs if requested. Either way those that don't get their kids vaccinated are selfish. I believe they rely on all the other kids being vaccinated to keep the disease at bay without (in their ignorant minds) risking their kid.

Seen a few of the headlines and been a newsletter from the school - we had no issues vaccinating our daughter , it’s clearly safer than getting the measles

Unfortunately the MMR issues have been blown up by the red top rags and jumped upon by conspiracy idiots

I think the reason that measles is on the rise is more cultural - just look at the areas where it is happening and look at the ethnicity of the areas.

And this is not racist before anyone points it out

Lazy arsed dog owners who don’t have the common manners or thinks it’s below them to clean up their own dogs 💩

Even worse is someone let their dog loose over the weekend on the schools field and of course a good number of kids it seems have rolled in it and covered their clothes and one unfortunate girl got it in her face and eyes and its in hospital getting her eyes washed out 🤬🤬

If you can’t look after a dog or indeed any pet responsibly then you shouldn’t be allowed to own one

It’s the current panic about measles that’s confused me - back in the day did we not just all get measles as a normal part of growing up? Now it’s deadly?

That said, I agree with the vaccine comments - if there’s one available why not go for it and save the suffering.
I remember when I was a kid and had chicken pox and all the kids in the area came in to see me with presents. I hadn't heard of a Chick-Pox party at the time, but that was the old way of getting kids immune.
Mind you, I think measles was deadly then, it's just that vaccines have taken that deadliness out of peoples minds. They won't know until their poor kid comes down with it.

We have this in our area, but then I think everyone does. Part of it I think stems from people who bought dogs during Covid for the first time and didn't know who to look after them. Plus there are always selfish people. I put this down to a number of reasons:
  • They don't like picking up the poo, especially the messy ones. (Somebody on our local facebook page reported a dog mess they found full of worms).
  • They just don't think it matters.
  • They just believe someone else will pick it up. There are lot of people believe with dog mess, as with litter, that once it hits the floor it's not their problem.
  • They don't keep an eye on their dogs when walking (I believe deliberately) with the viewpoint that if they don't see their dogs do the mess then it's not their problem.
It really annoys responsible dog owners, as it gives us all a bad name.
