Christmas has hit the shopping malls & public areas but there’s still something weird about seeing wintery scenes when it’s over 30°
Not having a degree symbol on laptops (& no hitting alt + 0176 doesn't work)

How much would it cost in the equivalent location in Spain? Say Barcelona or Madrid?A coffee & a small bottle of Peroni in The George near Borough Market, £10.20 - €2.70 in Spain. A BLT sandwich and a fish finger sandwich, both with chips, and a pint of Peroni and a coffee, £35.xx. Around €15.00 in Spain.
I think, perhaps, the biggest rip off foisted on the British public is hotel room & train tickets. Booked through a Spanish website I paid less in Euros than the U.K. website were quoting in GBP.
A bit unfair to compare Borough Market and rural Spain, maybe Tokyo, New York, Paris, Rome and so on.A coffee & a small bottle of Peroni in The George near Borough Market, £10.20 - €2.70 in Spain. Re hotel rooms, if you use Trivago for example you have access to many other operators, not just Spanish ones.
Hmm. Borough Market - and the George - are most definitely 'premium locations' for tourists & visitors. Even those of us who are fairly local don't/won't pay those prices regardless of how 'historic' the pub is.It’s the same in Rome. Go to a tourist trap and pay €20.00 for a coffee and coke, or €3.00 in Trestevere suburb half a mile away.
Not sure I’d class the George pub in a backstreet near Borough Market as a tourist trap.
At least the bus fare today from Deptford to Greenwich is only £1.75. Pretty much on a par with the €1.20 we pay to travel similar distances.

Borough Market is a hip place, it's cool. Translated, it's going to cost you more . Like all of those sorts of places, you just have to suck it up and accept it. Otherwise, have that drink elsewhere. It's why tap and pay was invented, don't look at the priceIt’s the same in Rome. Go to a tourist trap and pay €20.00 for a coffee and coke, or €3.00 in Trestevere suburb half a mile away.
