People who cross the road (or wait to cross the road) that is within a few meters of a crossing..

Driving along today lady waiting and literally 5 meters up the road was the crossing .. by time a gap would come up she could walk to that, press the button, cross and be half way down the road

Madness

I'll counter with those that press the button, see a gap and cross before the lights change then everyone sits at a red stop waiting for no-one.

I like to push the button but not actually cross at all. If anyone complains I tell them they're being held at a red light to regulate the service.

@pauljames87 will understand.

Lol 😆

Sometimes the system even holds them for their own protection and still get moaned at "why you holding me I'm late" sorry didn't think you would like another train to hit you ... Crack on

I press the button and wait for ages for a green light. After a while a gap appears in the traffic and I scoot across.
As soon as I've crossed, light changes to hold the traffic up.
I've waited, then the vehicles wait.
If the lights would change within a few seconds of pressing the button, far fewer would be so irritated.
I might give up on crossings and just cross the road wherever I am, even if there is a crossing a few metres away - I mean - what's the point of them? - they just wind everybody up.

Some crossings in Spain & Portugal have radars. If you approach at above the speed limit they change to red even if there’s no pedestrians around. Sounds like a great idea unless you’re the car behind that was adhering to the limit.

Round here the crossings go green (or red for the traffic) within 30 seconds if not used recently if not it's a minute

But the same happens at zebra crossings! I mean I have to stop for you... Why you crossing 5 meters up the road

30 seconds is far too long for a pedestrian to have to wait.
Its so impolite.
People in vehicles are sitting down and will be making faster progress anyway.

This has triggered a memory of being an inebriated student and in the early hours jamming a matchstick into the button housing - so the lights keep changing even though no-one needs to cross. Apologies to those who may have been randomly irritated by this 🤐

Well now, you've remembered doing it so you clearly were not drinking enough.

The crossings here on Honiton high street change immediately you press the button - unless they have recently been used, in which case you do have to wait a short while. Seems a very sensible arrangement.

Mid-handicappers and above with a wicked slice and putting yips who naively / arrogantly claim and assume that a Par 5 equates to a birdie, almost as a given - and if they don’t get a birdie then they’ve ‘left one out there’

Edit: I’m a mid-handicapper — it’s not a slight on those…but more the idea that a Par 5 is almost an entitlement to a birdie —- Par 5 green complexes should be the most tricky, and offer strategic risk/reward elements

AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

we have arrived home to find a locksmith’s business card in the letterbox. Hey, maybe he’s doing a card drop around the local houses. Opened the gate and got onto the drive no problem. Opened the front door no problem. Mrs Hobbit tries to open the back door…. No joy!! She goes outside and finds the back(grill) door wide open. She tries the key in the grill door and then the back door, neither of which work.

OMG! Have we got home just in time to stop an attempted break-in? Oh, hang on a minute…why is there a business card for a locksmith in our letter box? A quick call reveals he‘d received a call from number 5 Los Guigerlleras, next road down, the owner saying they’re locked out. They also advised him that there’s a Toyota Yaris on the drive.

We‘re number 5 Los Golondrinas(the swallows), and with a Toyota Yaris on the drive. Yes, he’d done the wrong house, and in doing so he’d trashed the original locks. We now have new locks. And the piece of mind of knowing there wasn’t an attempted break-in.
