I wouldn’t be seen dead in Dubai…it is the preferred holiday destination for the type of people who have an Audi on the drive of their “Executive-style living” Barratt-box house but are only one wage cheque away from having it all repossessed…..footballers go there too. ?

Land Rover Discovery I’m afraid, although I have an A1 if it makes a difference ??

Absolutley embarrassing some of the comments here, I’ve been about 8 times in the last 13 years, no issues whatsoever, well looked after and kids even more so, unless you have been you should reserve judgement, easy to criticise without foundation.

Did I criticise anything about it. I just said I wouldn’t visit ??‍♂️

It doesn’t appeal to me in the slightest.

If you like going there that’s ok. You don’t have to take offence that other people don’t want to.

600 quid utility bill for Dec!! Even though we were away for a few days…. Heating on all the time both sides of Christmas.. lots of family and friends around. Not sure how many loads of dishwasher and washing machine was being done everyday…
My Mrs got quite upset yesterday evening when our cost for the day ticked over £14, saying she’s not working just to pay for our energy. And so temp for CH between 9am and 5pm had been turned down to 16°C. I’m told that if I am cold I can put on a jersey. Fortunately I‘m not bothered by it being a little chilly. Must be grim and very worrying for those who have little to start with and so little choice…other than it’s off.

Probably the same people on the forum who are too ‘classy’ to be seen in Wetherspoons ?

My wife is much the same, she can't stop looking at the energy monitor and worrying.
Temperature set at 18, I'm sitting sweating dressed for a cold day at the golf wearing a lined golf pullover with a heavy shawl over my legs

The absolute weapon that continues to plaque our trains. Once a week or so Mr (won't use his name) fakes a seizure, or a heart attack (fooled an off duty nurse once)

Delays the train service for 15 mins each time without fail , but more annoyingly wastes ambulance time

If we recognise him we call the police and he leaves. He has been charged with various things but still carries on

What's wrong with people?

Seriously there are people who need actual help .

On train last week coming back from London. Lad (6-8?) got himself stuck in the loo and couldn’t open the door. Was panicking. His mum went to find the guard while a friend stayed outside the loo reassuring the lad that help was coming. A few minutes later the guard came along and opened the door. Yeah…let’s not bother having guards on trains.

I've had a situation today alone

Wheel chair user gets on at our shiny new station that's fully wheelchair accessable . She ignored all the signs and stickers that only to use car 5 (as the rest of our Victorian network isn't wheel chair accessable, but some platforms are brought up to level)

Alarm pulled at station 1. Wrong car..unable to get off, no ramp available

Same at station 2

Station 3 a ramp available, a full 10 stations away.

She has now been assisted to the correct carriage to get off down south again

Now for 1 its disgusting in this day and age that we can't better assist all our customers however it would take billions if not trillions , would be cheaper to give every wheelchair user in London 24 hour free taxis than convert the platforms apparently

Its digusting we talking about cutting station staff again so even less people to assist

Imo every station should have a ramp that you can attach if needed and train the drivers up to assist .. however. Issue then is half the stations they are stuck on the platforms

I can't imagine how awful this must be for people.

Maybe in this instance the wheelchair should’ve used the correct carriage in the first place if it’s clearly signed.

She sounds like the sort who’d buy a house near a cricket club and moan about the odd ball landing in her garden

Indeed. Maybe she should. However I think it's disgusting in this day and age how unaccessible public transport is to wheelchair users would you not agree?

Mine did that. There are two options for your feed, "for you" or "following". For some unknown reason it swaps to "for you" occasiinally and your feed is full of garbage. If you swap it back to "following" you'll only see posts from people you've chosen to follow.

Especially as, with all these strikes, the only people who are taking the train these days are those who absolutely need to. I’m certainly not planning any journeys where I have to take a train in the short term - not worth the risk.
