The Zurich Classic is a team event and Sky have just listed their Red Button options for tonight, one of which is watching Cantlay/Schauffele as a featured group.

My first thought was why would anyone do it, but on reflection if you have tea to make, kids to bath, dogs to walk or pots to wash it makes perfect sense.
Surely you have slow players at your club. They will get off on watching Cantlay.

Touché, with you Greg Norman and Liv

Seriously, just because your hero has been criticised…I’m quite sure you’re not a 10 yr old..honestly🤣
Not sure what you mean? I'm not sure I've ever posted anything at all about Greg Norman? Certainly nothing of any note or length? The existence of Greg Norman doesn't bother me in the slightest. All I understand is that he was maybe not the most well loved golfers amongst his peers pre LIV and might have an agenda against the PGAT to drive his passion for LIV. But, I know so little about the guy, that I really don't have much to say on him at all.

I'm not sure McIlroy has ever criticised anyone on mental health grounds (assuming he may have missed the event because he wasn't right mentally), nor would he criticise a player if they missed an event and got fined, regardless of the tour.

If he is prepared to miss an event, and suffer the consequences of getting fined based on the rules set, so be it. He'll have been aware of the rules, and decided that whatever issue he is having, it was worth suffering the consequences. Not sure why that upsets anyone, as McIlroy is really the only person getting punished?

Personally, I think the PGAT, including players, have overly relied on McIlroy over the last year while LIV suddenly changed the dynamics. I think he has done a great job in speaking his mind (and the Netflix comment regarding Phil was clearly tongue in cheek, maybe people should allow for a bit of a personality every now and then, rather than expect sports people to be robots, especially if it goes against their own views). But, I thought it was an absolute joke they decided to interview him mid way through Round 1 of The Masters, and he was stupid in accepting it (I can't imagine it was his suggestion). Let him focus on his job, especially in the one competition that puts him under most pressure (if I knew I was going to be interviewed in a comp where I have high expectations, it would put me right off beforehand, hoping I'm not playing badly and embarrass myself, which inevitably would happen). To a similar extent, felt sorry for Jimmy Walker the other week, as they interviewed him just as he was starting to tumble down the leader board. There might be a time and place for on course interviews, but really only if that player is in a more relaxed state of mind, where they are not under pressure to win, make a cut or the event itself is less pressurised.

I think the PGAT have made some bad and rushed decisions in the last year. They were forced to give more prize money, but they've obviously insisted players play in a certain number of these high profile events as a compromise. I'm unsure why this was necessary? If the prize money is so high, the best players will naturally choose to play in as many of these events as they can anyway. No need to insist upon it, and it is doomed to backfire as soon as any player needs to miss more than one event for personal reasons. I guess they get a pass if they get a physical injury, but no such luck if it is a mental health issue?

I believe he was busy negotiating his new LIV contract.

LIV would have been a great move for Rory as a team captain - but that ship has probably sailed now, unless the Saudis can find a few more hundred million sheckles down the back of the sofa to lure him over. ;-)

Compared to the PGA and the Feeder Tour, it is a no contest at the moment.

Both the PGA and the ET are in those weeks inbetween majors

The Mexico Event still has the World Number 1 playing in it

I’m guessing that LIV won’t have an event going up against the Wells Fargo

A good comparison will be when the Byron Nelson happens.

I think you can file Rory amongst those like Rahm , Scheffler , Thomas , Spieth and prob most of the current top 20 who wouldn’t move across.

I mean it would NEVER happen but imagine if he did jump ship 😮🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Never say never, and there could come a day when it’s not about jumping ship.

We’re already seeing that the top dozen plus LIV guys are getting entry into majors, the Ryder Cup doors are still open, and meanwhile they’re earning good money while having a great time playing golf.

All those guys on the PGAT will be looking closely to see how it develops.

The guys getting entry into Majors - is it all just mainly players who have previously won a major plus a few from their ranking from last year

After this year the numbers qualifying will reduce to just those who have previously won a major and then some of their exemptions will run out for some of the majors.

For the majority of them the route to a major is via regional or final qualifying

And Ryder Cup - Europeans no chance but the US guys will find out by August

Yeah I guess so, it’s not like Rory is against signing huge deals with a competitor. Still can’t see it ever happening though, he’s set his stall out now and I imagine he’ll stay there for good.
