At last a balanced article on the BBC website today, about the future of the DP World Tour….a read of the top 20 ‘best regarded’ comments would be good for a couple of the ‘ ‘status quo’ / ‘PGA Tour dominance is great for golf and for golf fans and for the European Tour, and it’s only Liv that’s evil’ cohort on here
Assume it is this article
When going to comments there are different filters, one is 'highlest rated', that would be my guess
Ok I have read that 3 times now and still struggling to understand it ?
What’s the top 20 best regarded comments ?
Which article ?
I don’t recall many saying PGAT dominance is good for the game
Don’t think many would be unhappy to see him win, comes across very well.Be interested if anyone who likes a little flutter backed anyone other than Rahm or Finau at the start. Well played Tony.
Highest rated / best regarded
It’s not going to be Latest, First, or lowest rated is it?!
There aren’t many BBC golf articles that talk about the future of the European Tour, and don’t just cheerlead for Woods or McIlroy, so it isn’t hard to figure it out which one it was
Aren’t the PGA tour events ‘during the work day’ for their main target audience i.e. Americans?unfortunately for the ET most of the events are during the work day for us there isn’t a big rush from many companies to throw millions at golf events
Aren’t the PGA tour events ‘during the work day’ for their main target audience i.e. Americans?
Yeah fair shout - also when looking at the ET events there are a lot of them early mornings etc
It seems it’s a chicken and egg scenario
The sponsers etc will pay up for the events if they have the big players but the only way the big players will play is if they have the big prize funds
Where the players base themselves most of the time helps as well - in the US it’s normally around Florida then it’s decent travel for the players
Everyone knows that the PGAT is the main tour and has been that way for years - 3 of the majors are also in the US and it helps players to enter them by being on the PGAT
Ultimately the big European players maybe need to take responsibility for the issues as well - the last two big young Europeans to come through - Rahm and Hovland , both came through the US System
Not sure what’s the answer.
A shake-up of the status quo perhaps?
Expect it's because they want to finish before the American Football season begins, so have to put them in early.Anyone else feel like the PGAT could have spaced out the "elevated events" a bit better? We're at number 8 of 12 already!
Rahm, Scheffler And Matsuyama To Miss Wells Fargo Championship
Both Rahm and Scheffler are set to skip the tournament, whilst Matsuyama is out due to injurywww.golfmonthly.com
Agree it is a largely self fulfilling closed loop. In the spirit of debate, Fitzpatrick likely bucked the trend (left US college after a short spell) and many would put him ahead of Hovland for now.Yeah fair shout - also when looking at the ET events there are a lot of them early mornings etc

Although it may seem unthinkable right now, do wonder if over time the current majors lose some draw after a period of time where not being the big(gest) prize funds.the only way the big players will play is if they have the big prize funds
It become more US Based to be more successful when the events over there started to offer more money and more security. It prob started last 90’s and then early 00’s the big Europeans started to leave to grab those fortunes.Agree it is a largely self fulfilling closed loop. I find it tricky to 'blame' the European players, when the whole system is based around being US based to be successful.
You mentioned

Right now their appeal is very high for many as the coming together of a fractured game.
