Golf balls going hard

I played yesterday with some Honma TW-S balls I bought in 2022/23 yesterday (very little golf played by me in late 2023 and most of 2024).
First thing I notice was that they seemed much harder than I remember.
Anybody else noticed this sort of thing?

I think the design tendency has been to go harder, but if you are thinking about aging.. then I think it depends because certain components could degrade and show that degradation differently.
The other question I would ask is where are you with your swing speed before and after the lay off?

Swing speed had nothing to do with I noticed it straight away on the practice putting green.
