G'day all, a 75 Yr old male won our 2 day club championship 2023-2024 season at Garesfield Golf Club, near Newcastle. It's a difficult parkland 18 hole course over 100 yrs old.
I suspect this is some kind of record for a guy this age. Any comments welcome please. Cheers.

Apparently Donald Trump regularly wins club championships. He's 77.

(😆 just in case anyone thinks I'm being serious)

Club championships in my county are 36 holes off scratch.
There might be an exception or two, but I haven't heard of them.
There is a Champion of Club Champions trophy that is also 36 holes off scratch.

I've heard it is done differently over the country as a whole - that is why I asked.

I believe that I am my club's oldest ever club champion in its history. I won it a few years ago when I was 58 yrs 9 months.
Shot 3-over 143.
Same score won it for me 28 years earlier.

Ours is 36 holes off scratch over two days. Best I done is 2nd twenty years ago. Won other scratch stuff at the club and often have the best gross in monthly medals, but for some reason it doesn’t happen in the club championships. Maybe this year🤞

Our scratch has always been 36 holes over one day - a reason I have never entered it.
The handicap was changed a few years ago to 36 holes over 2 days and a method worked out so scratch entrants can play in both.

No idea of the age of the oldest. It has been going for more years than I have lived.

Gonna check the moon. Sure this comes up every few months and there's normally a split between the 'scratch or nothing' gang, and the 'scratch but also a net champ to keep 90%+ members interested' mob.

From previous posts I'm guessing the OP is a 'net champ' (& well done him)
