Oh dear - after everything that’s happened - Graves will be back in post

I'm afraid I have to put forward the other viewpoint here. Starting by asking what you would have had them do?

Graves - even aside from the issues which have been raked over for the past four years - is far from perfect. But - and it is a massive, massive BUT - the simple fact is that, almost entirely as a result of unwarranted imposition from the ECB, the only other option for Yorkshire would be dissolution. The County's finances - extremely robust three years ago - have been decimated by the cretin imposed by the ECB, massed pay outs to staff unlawfully dismissed at the insistence of the ECB and the like.

Graves made some stupid comments. The County bungled the investigation (though again, a lot of this is because they were hung out to dry by said ECB). Some people displayed poor behaviours. But when you look at the whole story, it is hard to see the matter anywhere near the black and white issue that the ECB wanted to present. Moreover, there is an extremely concerning disparity between the seriousness of the proven allegations at Yorkshire and the penalties imposed and those that, for example, have occurred at Essex (much more serious offences, no meaningful penalties).

You can rather see why most Yorkshire members have the proverbial chip on their shoulders.

Players cant grind out a score anymore because they dont practise or play that way ever. Most practise is geared to white ball and especially T20 cricket, with strength training, range hitting practise etc. The players once in the England team are mainly on a carousel of Franchise cricket and play little to no red ball cricket apart from in the tests. The circle was then completed by bringing in a coach and a philosophy that removes any individual blame for bad shots / not playing the situation / removes batting normally under the guise of it being putting all the pressure onto the opposition. One would hope for reverting to a middle ground where there is actually some cricket intelligence married with an aggressive approach but sadly not going to happen as more money and emphasis is placed on white ball cricket and red ball cricket is marginalised even further and some of the skills disappear from the game for good

I agree with the part about not playing enough red ball cricket nowadays but the bit about too much franchise cricket is a bit of a red herring. The franchise players are currently in SA playing in the Indian SA20 competition. The batsmen are all experienced red ball cricketers (might be a while ago) and should know better and be able to adapt to the conditions.

The batsmen are all experienced red ball cricketers (might be a while ago) and should know better and be able to adapt to the conditions.

All day every day they are practising and playing white ball cricket, teaching muscle memory and grooving their batting to be instinctive. You cant just switch that off and remember the red ball training you did many years ago overnight when a test series comes around. They havent even had a proper red ball warm up game for this series. As much as some of us dont like it, red ball is not the priority any more (apart from the funds it puts in the ECBs coffers of course)

I'm delighted for young Pope. He seems to have constructed a proper Test innings, defending where necessary and with an array of shots to maintain pressure on the bowlers.

I did not watch the India v SA test match around boxing day.. both teams seem to lose all their in the space of 2 days.... but then someone scored a century. While pitch is a contributing factor, i dont think people play 'old fashioned' cricket any more. Pope today was a good example of grit. But sadly he will be swept away when the money circus starts.. Jack Willis will earn more in 2 seasons than what Pope will earn in his career.. end of..

Prob best you watch it, pitch was an utter joke, brand new groundsman overcompensated and made for a horror deck, as proven on all stats of pace/bounce/deviation of recent tracks

No idea who was Man of the Match. Could argue for both. Hartley below average bowling 1st Innings but exceptional 2 nd Innings. 1st spin bowler since Jim Laker to take 7 wickets in an Innings since 1948, chipped in with 57 runs.
Pope poor 1st but superb 2nd.

Would hate to split them and would have a joint MOTM.
