Sad news about Brook having to go home from the tour for personal reasons , hope whatever the issues are it’s all ok and that it all get sorted for him

The reaction from some Indian Fans on social media shows how toxic can be - this is just a tame one

And then Kohli pulls out for personal reasons

It really is at times a very toxic environmental

Easy to be a keyboard warrior. I know football has an issue with these social media warriors and a shame it has transcended cricket and the Indian "fans" showing any empathy for a player clearly struggling

Three 'proper' spinners in the side and they are being shown how to spin a ball by a part timer! I agree with trying to bring new players in but not so many at the same time in a high pressure environment with expectations so high.

Not sure I understand the constant flogging of Hartley when they clearly have his number , Leach seems to being used in short spells when he looks the more threatening at times. But they are just not hitting the right spots on the pitch , they aren’t varying their lengths and pace as well - it’s too obvious

might be ok if they were experienced, successful spinners and even then India still a tough place to go. We pick 2 guys with 20 or fewer first class games where they take 2 wickets a game at over 35 a piece
Expect we all would be happy if they had taken 10 wickets @35 each now. Hindsight I know

India managed to play some attacking stuff, but then realised it was getting tougher with the lack of bounce and adapted. England need to realise that attacking every ball isn't the answer - especially in Indian conditions.
Not the Bazball way though. I wonder how long the blind adoption of this way of playing can go on and why players can't grind a score out anymore. How many have any long term exposure the county cricket anymore where there is less time constraints and you can bat according to conditions and match circumstances

Players cant grind out a score anymore because they dont practise or play that way ever. Most practise is geared to white ball and especially T20 cricket, with strength training, range hitting practise etc. The players once in the England team are mainly on a carousel of Franchise cricket and play little to no red ball cricket apart from in the tests. The circle was then completed by bringing in a coach and a philosophy that removes any individual blame for bad shots / not playing the situation / removes batting normally under the guise of it being putting all the pressure onto the opposition. One would hope for reverting to a middle ground where there is actually some cricket intelligence married with an aggressive approach but sadly not going to happen as more money and emphasis is placed on white ball cricket and red ball cricket is marginalised even further and some of the skills disappear from the game for good
