As it always will be given its true and a fair opinion of many. But Phil, you have to remember you trot out the same counter arguments every year too !

Why complain yearly about a program that you don’t watch

We know that BBC don’t have some sports , we know the reason why - it doesn’t change from last year.

Much like annual moaning about the F1 ? but that doesn't stop some eh

The f1 thread was quite decent up until a few weeks ago… went from about 10 pages across a season to 54 or so over two races.

If you enjoy it or are interested in the result then watch it, if you have no interest in it…don’t, not difficult is it.

Maybe the Mods could use their superpowers and merge all the annual SPOTY threads in to one and then we could see if anyone has had a change of heart.

I can only ever remember it being Sports Personality of The Year

Every year before 1999 ?

Although to be fair the award was always SPOTY, but the show was Sports Review of the Year up till then

Yep - unmatched by any Brit, isn’t it? Winning a major grand slam in first season as a qualifier?

Absolutely, Always found it entertaining while not really caring who wins, sometimes it’s easy to forget just how many sporting achievments there has been over the last 12 months, plus the Helen Rollason Award has been a great addition.

As I put before, if you don’t like, don’t watch it

My post wasn’t meant to be disparaging, i enjoy it too.

But as a celebration of a year of British sport, rather than taking who wins tremendously seriously.

If I’d hit the pinnacle of my sport, I wouldn’t be too fussed whether I did or didn’t win SPOTY!
