Ok.
As it stands here's the team

Westwood
Mclroy
Poulter
Donald
McGowan
Kaymer
Dyson
F. Molinari
Quiros

And 3 wild cards

I think most would pick Casey and Harrington but who would be the final pick? Lets assume that you have to pick now and not wait till August so you can't say, for example, McGowan, Molinari and Dyson shouldn't be there and we should have X,Y,and Z instead.

I couldn't pick Garcia at the moment. He's lost his game as has Stensen. Jiminez is doing ok but.. Karlsson has shown some form and Ollie Wilson's thereabouts again. Ross Fisher hasn't done much this year so its a bit hit and miss.

I'd probably go with Karlsson.

Over to you Guys......

I'd still go with sergio, theres something about the Ryder cup that brings him out of his shell and in matchplay u can have a few bad holes and still win
Didn't Garcia himself say recently he isn't worth a pick at the minute?

His head doesn't appear to be in the game at the minute.

It might be a case of heart ruling the head but matchplay is a different beast to strokeplay, and Sergio can produce the miracle shots needed

Agree Sergio is struggling, his singles record is poor too, gubbed by Kim and Cink at the last 2.

I would go for a Brit/Irishman who's used to crappy autumn British weather, maybe Paul McGinley or more likely Graeme McDowell who's also a great putter.

There are 5 rookies in the team as it stands. If this was the case come later this summer, there would be no more rookies in Monty's team.

Padraig would be a must as he and Westwood would be the old heads in the team. Add that to the fact that he is clearly returning to form.

Casey is a top ten player and would also get a pick (again). His matchplay record is very impressive and would be invaluable to the team.

Finally, I think that McDowell would be nailed up for a pick right now. Ever since the World Cup I think Monty will have been looking to pair him and Rory. Experience of the last match and some decent form would get him in.

That said, it is a little hypothetical. I don't expect to see Dyson, Molinari or Quiros in the team come October. McGowen may be the surprise automatic qualifier I think.

As per my post above, Davies will not go as the team does not have enough experience. That said, I expect some of the rookies to drop out of the picture. If that happens, and Davies keeps his form, he could be in. He appears to be a great putter under pressure.

I wouldn't mind McGowan and Dyson dropping out of the team, which would make things a bit easir (providing some of the big names fill the places).

I'd take Sergio, not in the best of form just not, but matchplay is different, he did okay in the world matchplay which poulter won. Also, the RC has always got him fired up and it raises the team i suppose. There wasnt much that anyone could have done against Kim on the sunday (if i recall correctly)

For some reason I have a feeling that Soren Kjeldsen will make a late run into Monty's team.

Of the three wild cards I would agree on Paddy & Casey. I would disagree with whoever said that Dyson dropping out as Dyson is like a dog with a bone and a pretty impressive putter when it matters.

I think it would be a toss up between Karlsson and Stenson as things stand just now if that was the final team.

Can see Molinari making it, but can see Dyson and McGowan falling out of the team.

Paddy and Sergio are interesting shouts - particularly as their records at Valhalla were dreadful and not what you'd expect from two of the big guns. At least Paddy is showing a little bit of form, but Sergio appears to be all over the shop at the moment. Hoping that both will come good over the next couple of months to make the team automatically. If not then Monty will have 3 tough choices to make.

Hardest 3 choices for Monty are what to have for starter, main and dessert.

that one's easy! pie, pie and chips, chips

If that's all what there is to it, then sounds like the perfect job for me :) :) :)

Its a tough call as Both Molinaris would be a superb pair with track record, like McDowell and McIlroy, and I don't think Dyson will be in the final line up.

Monty is such a miserable sod there's a little part of me that would like to see him lose.. OUCH! did I really just type that? :)

I would take E.Molinari for sure as the Molinari's would be a great pairing to have. Then Harrington and Garcia would be my other two as i think their quality would come through when it matters.
