So when he got married, he had to give up all his friends to be with her.
She sees him every day and yet denies him the once in a blue moon opportunity to have a few beers with his mates?
And as far as I read, there was no big family get together planned.
It sounds like she wears the trousers in that house.

You're dam right I don't
Happy wife, happy life?
Why, marriage should be a compromise, a collaboration, a partnership with neither side taking control.
So what’s the compromise when you say you are not interested in spending the big birthday with family and friends but all good about a lads party - not really considerate to your loved one

The positives I can see is this is his second term so that's his lot

If he makes it that it. He is in ill health and people keep trying to shoot him
He’s already openly said that he’s “going to fix it so you never have to vote again”…

As Bob said, dictators tend not to heed the rules mere mortals do.

It’s not about him though. Do you genuinely believe he is pulling all the strings. Read up on Project 2025.

Thing is, we feared that kind of thing after Brexit with certain MPs writing a book about British people being lazy, overpaid , working too short etc etc

It didn't come into play as feared

So whilst it could happen it prob won't

It’s hard to fathom. Leaving his politics out of it, he is proven liar, sexual predator, totally self-obsessed and an all-round nasty piece of work. How millions upon millions of ordinary Americans can vote for him just staggers me.
Pretty much my thoughts. Couldn't care less what party he represents, but the fact that that person can be elected not even once but twice, is a total embarrassment for their country. I just never believed it was possible.

"The election has been run very fairly so far" - because he is winning. No way he says that if he was losing.
The man has never been told no in his life. He is a rich spoilt brat and thinks he can say or do anything he wants.

Strange especially at your age. Private?
i think its more age related, if i was younger they would do something about it. had the cortisone injection last week and though its still painful, but a vast improvement over the last few days. still awaiting an all clear to start doing stuff again which i wont be till next Thursday. will be over 3 months since ive played or done anything.

as for Private when i had the screws taken out of my knee in the 90's it was done by the surgeon who put them in on the NHS and he took them out at a private clinic a few days later rather than wait a year on the waiting list. alas there is no private clinic in Inverness.

Tell you what is mad is his conviction allowed him to run for office still

However if you or I had that conviction we wouldn't be able to get an esta to enter America

For the second time, family were not involved.
For the second time, she sees him every day.
I think it's inconsiderate of her not to let him go out for a beer with his old mates once in a blue moon.
The compromise has already been mentioned by Fragger.

Two sides to every tale. I'm not sure if there was a suggestion of her not letting him go, rather that she was just sad and disappointed that he blanked her suggestion in favour of arranging something with mates without consulting her. If I was looking to go down that route I'd have explained to my wife that that is what I really wanted to do, and hoped that she would understand, rather than just proceeded to organise it behind her back. Maybe discuss a possibility that involved both her and mates - or certainly an additional celebration of just me and her. Rather than her being dismissed out of hand and moaned about on a public forum. 😄 Seems very dismissive of one's partner, but perhaps he was just playing it up in that typical 'blokey' way that we've all probably heard in clubhouses enough time about "er indoors".
