I was looking forward to a game of golf this morning. My back is aching, that dull ache deep into the muscle, it started yesterday afternoon after a morning of mauling a large pile of tree branches under cover to dry out over winter. Also, I started sneezing my head off yesterday afternoon, that turned into a very sore throat, that didn't respond to a bottle of wine and three tankards of rum and coke last night. I'm now sat indoors on my laptop dosed up on max strength day night flu pill and a hot water bottle on my back.

The small cartons of orange drink I buy have had the straws replaced with paper ones. Halfway through drinking the juice they always collapse in the middle and nothing comes through them.

Spain, not bothering with paper straws but supplying plastic ones to use. Not an irritation with Spain, but us stupid lot here.

On this (sort of) subject, why do restaurants give you a special sharp knife for steaks? It is like they are admitting their steaks are tough 🤔
I once, in a restaurant, after a lot of hesitation, returned a steak as being tough. (We were with my parents and my dear old mother was mortified.)
It was returned shortly after and it was obvious, by the piece cut off, that it was the same steak. I pointed this out and was told "Chef has changed the knife as the other one wasn't sharp".
When the bill came I refused to pay for the uneaten steak.
The atmosphere was dreadful.
As we drove away several kitchen staff leaned out an upper floor window jeering and flicking V signs. I dread to think what "additions" had been made to my meal had I caved in and eaten it.
