Random Irritations

Careful, it becomes a problem…

Fortunately, my 1994 Technics are still going strong so no need for buying any kit.

I need to give my head a wobble and stay off Discogs 😬
I was cured many years ago and sold my LP12/Lingo/Ittok.
The only thing I regret is that due to the vinyl revival, it would probably now be worth a lot more.

I could never bring myself to sell my Technics. They've been with me nigh on 30 years, lived in every house with me (much to the chagrin of my neighbours in most cases) and there's just too many memories attached to them, playing warehouse parties, house parties and even a few nights in the village British Legion.

I was in a vinyl shop in Greenwich last week. Album after album I’d paid £3/£4/£5 for was selling for £25. 6 years ago I skipped 200+ albums when we were clearing the house to move to Spain. 200x25…ouch

Its when you get in to limited press runs that the money jumps up. Last week I sold a rare clear pressing on an old Dutch label that I bought for £6 in 1994, it went for £195. There were only 500 pressed on clear wax and of that I can only imagine a few are left in circulation.

Was this you playing down the Legion?

People who send you a Teams message with just 'hello', and wait for a response. Just write what you want ffs.
I have to admit I do that to one specific person that I work with at the moment, because I know it drives her batty. I say hello. Then wait, she responds, "hello", then I ask "how are you?" and wait... Then I'll go on to "are you busy?"... This one liner stuff will carry on until she inevitably cracks and asks me what the eff I want :D

It brings me joy as she treats her team like dirt and I like them (they invited me, a mere contractor, to their Christmas lunch and not her!)

That's fair enough, sounds like she deserves it....but that's got me thinking, maybe people think i do?

My cousin's having his wedding in Aberdeen around new year. We were planning to attend but (a) we were going up with my parents who are now no longer going as my mum has had health problems and doesn't feel up to it, and (b) just the logistics of travelling that far with a baby are proving a nightmare to work out. I think it's like a 9 or 10 hour drive if you go straight, but with a baby in a car seat you're meant to have a break every two hours I think (maybe less?) so it will take absolutely forever. Could fly it but just so much stuff to bring - car seat (and having to hire a car), travel cot, high chair for the cottage we stay in, baby toys and supplies. We might have to follow my parents lead and cancel but then I feel bad for my cousin losing a handful of family guests so close to the time. At a loss what to do really. 🙁

Your immediate family comes first. Parenthood involves some sacrifices.
