It shoudl be law that certain basic maintenance on a car can be done with no specialist tools or skills. What if you bulb goes on the way home at night. No way you can change it on the roadside on a large number of cars.
And what's more, some cars these days will put you in limp home mode if they detect a bulb has gone. It's a double whammy!

My Post Office car insurance renewed without any notifications whatsoever. I’d already paid for insurance with a new company.
I called them and they’ve agreed to pay it back in full but it will take around 3 weeks. They said i had been informed by post and e mail but I’ve had neither. I know I’m not one for reading the small print but these companies take the piss...

I have a Mazda 6. To change the headlight bulb you need to remove the wheel arch clips, pull back the plastic, contort your arm, whilst laying down, unscrew the old bulb, unclip the blub (all done blind and one handed because the other arm holds the plastic back), insert new blub and refit. I stripped the skin on both arms quite badly doing mine . You either need to wear kevlar arm protection or enlist a small child, I'm talking full Victorian era, to unfit and fit whilst an adult keeps the arch covering back. The designer was an idiot of the highest order and I second your proposal (y)

On some cars changing a bulb takes ages. On my old Megane you had to take half of the engine out to reach it. For most garages it was an hour plus to change a bulb until I found one that had a mechanic with small hands who could change the bulb without removing anything and took 5 minutes. They used to have people queuing up for bulb changes.

100% my old 3 series requited you to take the front wheel off and get to the headlight via the wheel arch!

I once spent 3hrs trying to change a front headlight on my company Megane, eventually I gave up as my hands were ruined! My Dad told me to get out of the way and leave it to someone who knew what they were doing, 3hrs (and many swear words) later he gave up, and it had to go to a garage to be replaced.

(I blamed the person that signed the deal to take Renault's, he just happened to be the person who claimed he knew what he was doing) 🤣🤣

My wife's been on emergency tax for months now, trying to get through to someone .. laughable

"You can do most things online" yes apart from most useful things

No system to email them

Only open when most people at work anyways not a cheeky Saturday morning or late evening

Just make it so you can email them (or secure message through your account at least) so they could take say 7 working days even would be enough

Should come off an emergency tax code at the beginning of a new tax year automatically.

The mrs use to have a Megane, pretty sure my mate (who’s a mechanic) changed the bulb through the wheel arch 🤯
I’d never have a Renault again.

100% agree. You need hands the size of a six year old and the dexterity of a skilled brain surgeon to change a headlight bulb these days. Ridiculous.

Now TV website, nothing ever seems to work!
Offer link from email took 5 goes to load up. Then even though had an account for years decides I have to change my address which included having to invent a house number.
Payment doesn't work via banking app, switch to PayPal, also doesn't work.
10 mins going through the help, most pages don't display properly. Eventually find the chat function hidden in the complaints section. In the end they give me a voucher to enter in. Success in the end, but why can't things just work - almost didn't bother

I will irritate you more by telling you there is web chat and Saturday working at HMRC.
The missus runs a payroll bureau and it’s like a direct line for businesses and pretty quick if you log in before 9am or Saturday…… it’s just not available to the general public.

Yeah should do however still on it now even tho it's the new tax year she was paid

Been checking her account still BR code
To possibly add to your irritation, BR is not an emergency code. W1, M1 or X would indicated an emergency code and these would be automatically rectified at the start of the new tax year. BR is allocated to deduct tax without personal allowance, usually when an individual has 2 jobs. You sure her old and new employers have done what is necessary in terms of updating HMRC?

Her old employer didn't give her P45 for ages, we gave it to new employer two months ago

But on her tax account she only has 1 form of employment now but still BR
