My old man just sold a lot of specialist tools down in Edinburgh through an auction as he’s retiring, I never knew selling tools at auction was a thing 🤷🏻‍♂️

It’s pretty big tbh. I was at an auction in Glasgow last month trying to bag a commercial size jointer planer. There were 4 available and I missed out on all of them as they went waaayyyyy over my budget.

The range of tools and machines was astounding. I ended up walking away with a 1998 DeWalt radial arm saw that “needs some work”.

A 4 hour induction training actually taking 5.5 hours. It's regularly provided so how the heck do you get the timing so wrong??

Sky! Send me several emails criticizing others broadband price rises and offering me a deal, then a few days later send me their tv price rises (which are over 15%!)

Scottish Power constantly calling me to book me in for a smart meter! Last guy wouldn’t take no for an answer, kept saying “but why don’t you want one?” Even though I told him I’d had enough of his patter he was prattling on. Ended up telling him to Foxtrot Oscar 🤬

We got a call from them last week, and as we were booked in for solar panels, we wanted to get one installed. Went through all the questions and were then told there were no appointments in our area. Surely they knew where we lived before they rang us?

German labour laws.

Working offshore on a 12 hour on 12 hour off contract you are only allowed to do a maximum of two weeks at a time. If you are only doing 10 hours a day instead of 12 then you can do three weeks. It doesn't matter that I want to do a four or six week trip I'm not allowed to.

This one is but apparently applies to all offshore workers, in oil and gas as well. If you're doing a 12 hour shift then you're only allowed to do a 2 week rotation even if you want to do more. I'd far prefer to go away for 4 or 6 weeks and then have the same amount of time at home but it's not allowed. With a travel day at each end of the rotation it's 16 days away and then only 10 days at home. Looks like I'll be claiming to only be doing a 10 hour shift so that I can do a three week trip.

Rare child-free night out tonight, nearly spoilt by over-eager staff. It felt like a they were trying to rush us out. Taking starter plates away whilst my wife was still chewing. Trying to bring mains and desert straight out. They got the message eventually, but still annoying. Fingers crossed it’s just a one-off as the restaurant is only 5 mins walk, meaning a nice meal and a few drinks is usually a pleasurable way to spend a few hours without the need for taxi’s.

Just tell them you are putting your house up for sale and don't want to be changing stuff before you sell it - works every time for me.
