This is a slightly churlish one but what the heck. The mother of a lady at work has made a Christmas cake for us to eat at work. I'm pretty much the only one who eats it, I'm quite happy with that . I've had my first slice today, there is no marzipan . I'll repeat that, no marzipan . I love that on the cake and it's missing. I now have a large Christmas cake to eat on my own without my favourite part of it being there. (1st world problem, I know)

My daughter makes a Christmas cake every year, with marzipan (!), knowing that I am the only one who will eat it. Just enjoyed a slice, now half way through the cake.

I’ve had to abandon the house and come to the golf club - respite from the unremitting dust that is getting absolutely everywhere in the house as our builders demolish a main internal brick wall…and despite all my efforts to block ingress of dust into other rooms I’ve failed. There is a cloud of dust that is getting everywhere.

Plus I fear that when by mistake I shut one of our cats into our bedroom yesterday it relieved itself somewhere…either that or the demolishing work gives off a funny smell…

Anyway here I am sat in golf club lounge looking out onto a cold and frozen golf course, and that’s also rather irritating...time for another coffee.

Would probably take another week to get an appointment with them!

But you could go sick and get it back dated. At the end of the day it’s up to you.

I’ve travelled 120 miles, on a Wednesday, to see and engineer who had been working loads of overtime. I told him to pack up his tools and go home, and don’t come back in till monday. And I signed him off for Saturday/Sunday working that weekend. The staff are your biggest asset. Treat them respectfully and they will pay you back 10x over. Screw them around, and when the cwap hits the fan, they won’t bail you out.

I’ve signed countless overtime claims to reward those that have gone the extra mile, and consistently been the highest returning revenue manager. I can’t believe how short sighted some managers are.

We know the truth Hugh. You’ve gone down the club to use it as a warm hub, and have turned your heating off so the workers crack on to keep warm.:ROFLMAO:;)

Not quite…? The workers have the doors wide open and the house is freezing - so to the club to warm up. One of the joys of home just 5mins drive from the club.

However there is also the truth that when I spoke with my Mrs this morning she told me I should go to the club if I was getting cold…rather than switch the heating up ??

I do find it irritating if I'm discussing something with someone and then someone else sticks their nose in where it was not asked for or welcome. If you wouldn't butt in to someone's conversation in real life, don't do it on here. I'm sure the person I'm having the discussion with can speak for him/herself.
Not many do it but those who do do it, do it a lot.

It's an open forum. If you want a private conversation then take it somewhere else would be the think to do.
