No you are not alone, I like a lot of WHS but dislike the opportunity it affords many to be able to manipulate their handicaps and, more so, the fact that some grasp this opportunity.
So, let's say you are in the following situation.

You have no chance of winning the competition but you still have 4 holes to play.

Do you try your best? If you do well you will get cut.

That is not what I was trying to say, you could do exactly what you describe under UHS.

You could but you'd maybe go up by 0.1. The incentive to do that didn't exist. The WHS has created opportunities for players that we never thought possible.

If you did it 7 times in a row you may well have been put up an extra shot in UHS.

Handicap manipulation existed under UHS, just it is easier (with poor oversight) to do it under WHS.

I never had a UHS handicap. Could everybody else at your club see every round that you recorded?

Are they also pulling out of playing for the Club at team level or refusing any prizes from Club scratch comps?
At team level everyone’s off scratch. So no sandbaggers there.
Anyone with a vanity cap soon gets found out in that company!

We only have one scratch comp the Club Championship!

How is your Team funded? Ours comes from Comp Fees, so all the hackers are actually supporting these guys for Clothing and food, plus the end of season prizes also.
