So as it stands, taking out the don't cares, it's 60/40 in favour

That's a massive failure by the R&A and USGA

This is golf, where a large percentage of players are seniors who despise any change at all.

However I do agree with you that the implementation of WHS has been botched.

So because you havnt seen it it dosnt exist?

I havnt seen anyone with a knife so all knife crime dosnt exist.😳

Plenty on here have given examples of it but let’s just blame Liverpool.
Get your facts straight at least, the club is closer to Manchester.

I’m sure it exists at your club, because you are telling me and I believe you.

I don’t believe the problem exists at my club, or at my friends’ clubs, which leads me to conclude that it is a cultural problem, prevalent at your club or your region.

This survey is flawed anyway.

The only people who are taking part are those who are savvy enough or bothered enough to use a golf forum.

I would guess that less than 5% of my club have ever heard of the GM forum. I would be amazed if it was more than 10%.

And I would suggest that of those who don't bother with (can't access) forums etc would vote greatly different to those who are a bit more tech savvy on here.

WHS is all a bit too much of a hassle for those other people.

Yep. Fortunately, the survey isn't legally binding.
I could also speculate that WHS, iGolf and its user's ability to record scores and monitor their handicap progress in real time on their smartphone is hugely popular with the younger generation of golfer who are, I suspect, significantly underrepresented on the Golf Monthly forum. I could be wrong, but I don't get the feeling there are that many younger folks on here.

I only posted the poll because people on both sides of the argument were making sweeping statements and asserting opinions about the system's popularity as if they were facts.

Is being able to access the internet or use a smart phone still considered being tech savvy? People have had getting on for 2 decades to figure it out.

In what way is WHS a hassle? You play golf and record your score after. I was inputting my scores into a computer more than 20 years ago.

If there are people who still haven’t got their head round it by now, one would be concerned about them being outside on their own.

I think people only post what they are hearing / experiencing in their own golfing circles.
Some have given examples of blatant cheating of the system.
Some have not seen any examples.
Some just don’t belive the others examples.
Both are right that’s the big problem.imo.

It’s a mess .

People with strong opinions often only report one side of what they hear/experience; and a small number are exaggerating the issues beyond the point of credibility. Challenging such comments is not to argue that there are no issues, just that the issues aren't anything like as severe as is being made out.

A lot of people have not bothered to get their head round it - because it was too much hassle. They preferred the old system which was easier to understand what would happen to your h/c when you entered your score.

The final part of the quoted sentence was both uncalled for and downright rude imo - don't bother to reply as I wont see it.

You're assuming the culture at your golf club is prevalent across the country. I'm a member at a golf club where there isn't a culture of being on the fiddle. Maybe it's the only club like that in Britain, I doubt it.
Yes your correct I am assuming that!
It’s a minority not everyone so no culture
But your just assuming yours is whiter than white and will until someone is caught.

You've not admitted there's a single issue with WHS, so not sure how you can come out with this when clearly there is enough dissatisfied punters that the authorities are polling joe public on it. That signals a massive issue that they're aware of

Apologies to wjemather if I am misrep representing him, but if I understand him from the other thread, its not that he is saying the lower handicappers are not disadvantaged in their chances of winning. He is saying they are. But that is WHS as designed, and intentional, and so not a flaw. It is an intersting perspective, that is new to me. The criticism I would make is that low handicappers are neither aware of it, and, even if they were, I am not sure they would agree with it.
