Just seen the replay and the Jamaican who came last was easing up with 5 yds to go knowing he wasn’t going to win. The times were astonishing. Am sure the Jamaican was the guy eyeballing the winner of the final in the semi race. To go from first in semi to last in final is unbelievable.

Mr H has reminded me that GB performs way, way better than it used to. Admittedly, there’s more events but 1976 saw 3 Gold, 5 Silver, 5 Bronze. We get genuine chances and podium finishes pretty much every day now.

Actually enjoying it very much… but don’t tell Mrs H. ;) ;):ROFLMAO:
Since those days we've thrown millions at certain sports, lottery money, targetted at sports we are likely to win medals in. It's cold, hard business now. If you aren't likely to win medals, you won't get the money. We've been very clever in going for particular sports, rowing and cycling being the obvious ones, where the targeting, skills build up, progression has really paid off.

Lottery money has undoubtedly been the biggest game changer.

So close in the tri relay. Karma for the French for putting them out on such a ridicuous course. Feel sorry for their athletes but the organisers need a good kicking. Or a good dose of e-coli.

Apparently, in the 100m final, it was a world record for a 2nd place finish, and a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th placed finish!
Just shows how good Bolt was.

Our silver in the Triathlon relay has been reviewed and now it is a bronze! they had another look at the photo finish after originally declaring the result. Been some very dodgy officiating at these games
