LIV Golf

You'd expect Koepka, BDC, Mickelson etc to get extra money as they are the star attractions at the end of the day, you look after your best workers in any business.

Heck of a call when it’s something that losing a lot of money each year and you have those star players that haven’t helped boost it to the required levels needed to make it a Tour that challenges the others outside just having more money

BDC is prob the main attraction but a lot of that is mainly down to you tube stuff

I watched an interview with Scott O’neill and Bryson t’other day. They were discussing the future of LIV, how they are pioneering the use of new technologies to help drive the league forwards etc. These guys are huge stakeholders in LIV and the financial rewards for them creating a successful global golf tour are unimaginable to most people.

So it’s not just down to LIV to pay them well, it’s down to them to maximise their own franchises.

Maybe not the longest off the tee anymore, but arguably still has the best short game in the world.
I'd certainly put him in the group behind Tiger for attraction.
He's entertaining to watch even if unlikely to win anything. Although I would have said the same thing four years ago and he won a major out of nowhere.

He certainly is entertaining round the greens and his some miraculous shots. But that disguised the fact his stats didn’t back up the best in the world claim.

Obviously it's subjective, but Phil could hold his own in the short game stakes against anyone in my opinion.
I always associate Rahm with a great short game as well, yet you don't really think off Scottie / Rory in this category, yet clearly they are, being the best players in the world.

Think if you asked 100 golfers then Phil’s name would be included when looking at the best short games in golf

Alongside the likes of

Donald , Seve , Trevino , Woods

Scottie doesn't need a brilliant short game because he largely doesn't put his ball in the rubbish in the first place. Seve and Phil get mentioned so much but both had to have a great short game due to how wayward they were off the tee. We remember the dramatic shots from bushes and behind trees. Scottie doesn't get to play these, he hits him up the middle

Think he will always be a name that people will watch

He isn’t at the level of Woods when the whole world switches on to watch but many will still watch him

He is certainly devisive still though with his views

The ‘whole world’ drinks Coca Cola and Pepsi, and eats KFC, but it doesn’t mean it’s any good🤷🏻‍♂️

That there is a golf media hard-on whenever Tiger Woods in 2025 shows up at a Father and Sons event, or sends a tweet of him hitting a wedge, is really nothing to be proud of..and doesn’t show golf media or those who continue to fawn / use his name, in a good light

Accept that for Tiger it is ‘over’

Rightly or wrongly Woods is still a massive name , prob the biggest name that’s been in the sport and his impact to the sport can never be underestimated

When he does play a game some watch to see him play again , some want to see him fail but he brings in viewers

I guess that’s why LIV wanted him , having Woods on board would have had every media company tripping over themselves to get the rights

Good job LIV didn’t spend hundreds of millions on Woods. He’s done, and would have struggled to complete any LIV event he was entered in.
