LIV Golf

I guess that will just increase even more from this year

How long before it gets anywhere near sustainable
No idea if it will ever be sustainable - however, I'm 100% sure it will never be unsustainable. Money is irrelevant to PIF - they have so much that it doesn't matter. They will continue as long as it's in their interest to continue.

Don’t think they will just continue to make huge losses - in other vanity projects they have attempted or looking to attempt there has been a lot of financial downscaling

Even LIV with the reports of no more big contracts to players shows they just aren’t going to keep throwing money at it

I know money doesn't matter to them, but if it is continually making huge losses, you'd expect they'd get bored of it sooner or later, especially when some other thing comes along that they can spend billions on to promote themselves.

After all, golf is only a minor sport ;)

Looks like LIV are going to be retaining all their star players as their contracts expire - quite a few people were forecasting this could trigger the start of players leaving the tour but it doesn’t look like this will be the case.

Some other updates from Flushing It here also

Aren’t most of the big players contracts due to expire next season - the likes of Koepka etc

The ones this season are the likes of Westwood and Co

The interesting note was they using “data driven stats” to look at who to recruit - that’s not looking like many “names” as such

The data driven stats also appear to be from betting sites.

This is nothing more than the normal we’ve got nothing to say but need to keep liv in the socials feeds.

The new contracts will also force the liv independent contractors to play at least 2 international series events.

So they play 2 more events outside the USA......a win I would say.

“This will be a welcome bonus to LIV Golf who have had to deal with lots of unsubstantiated speculation this year about players wanting to leave. There is currently no indication that any top players will be doing so during this off season or next.”

With regard to who they will sign, I expect they are looking at players that fit the franchise’s in the way that McKibbin worked with the Callaway deal for Legion XIII

Speaking personally - I enjoy seeing young players come to LIV and see if they can cut it, there are plenty of star names in the series’s already, but it’s important for the teams, and the league, to bring players in with potential that can then be developed.

12 months is a long time away

When a tour is losing huge levels of money when it comes to giving the likes of Koepka and BDC new contracts there maybe something different

Young players are good for any tour but those players aren’t the ones that get numbers or eyes on and it prob becomes a tour that gives Young players money in their pocket where as on other tours the battle for that money would have been a bit more

Suspect tours have reached a “as you are” now

And PIF will make a call on the finances at some point

You'd expect Koepka, BDC, Mickelson etc to get extra money as they are the star attractions at the end of the day, you look after your best workers in any business.
