I think some of us just want to comment on what is happening at the tournaments, without somebody chipping in slagging LIV off for the 1000th time. Bryson was absolutely incredible yesterday. Bedminster should be a tougher test this week.
I'm not sure anyone has slagged off LIV for Bryson's round? I think everyone has recognised it was a great round of golf.

Well a 58 may well bring BDC into the RC mix.

His play in recent months defo should have him in the mix for the US Ryder Cup team.

However the team dynamic might preclude him from being picked, unlike Brooks and DJ, Bryson did put his name to the lawsuit to sue the PGAT and has been vocal about the PGAT v LIV divide.
Understandably that left a sour taste with some US PGAT players.

A harmonious team room is an important part of Ryder Cup success.

That’s a key point when it comes to the US Ryder Cup team

Many times over the years they have lost the RC even though their team is far superior than Europe- mainly because of issues between players etc

I suspect Johnson will be very careful when picking players

I’d say this thread needs more talk of the actual golf being played, there’s too much of the politics being discussed.

For me, the lack of discussion on the actual golf being played gives the impression that the golf is 2nd fiddle to the politics.

🤷‍♂️ what difference does it make - one is still a par 72 so was 13 under par
Since we are all WHS experts, why not look at the course ratings?

Hadwin shot 59 on La Quinta Country Club which from a quick google tells me its par 72, 7060 yards with CR 74.3.

Bryson shot 58 at The Greenbrier The Old White which is par 70, 7292 yards with a CR of 76.

So it would seem Bryson was 18 under the course rating and Hadwin was 15.3 under the course rating. Seems to me Bryson shot a better score at a much harder golf course, so I'd take his 58 over Hadwin's 59 regardless of how many under par it was.

Thats for the professional golf thread I guess. This one is to keep the LIV politics, which is 95% of any LIV discussion, separate from actual golf. There isnt a DP thread, Champions thread, etc. Just into the pro golf tournaments one.

Quite a lot of chat during the broadcast yesterday about who will be relegated from the series this year, with the bottom 4 definitely going (Team captains are exempt - which I'm sure a few of them are grateful for as they are right in the mix).
Thats one of the LIV models big weaknesses though. In an already very small field, reserving places for players who are back of the pack just because they are captains, effectively greats of yesteryear or covering some regional strategy, they further devalue any performance or credibility of guys at the top of such hobbled fields.

The only reason this thread exists is so it doesn’t mess up the professional golf thread. All professional golf related chat (including LIV) should be in the same thread, much like the football thread. This exists so it’s easier for Fragger to clear up the mess from all the bitching

This thread as 12k more posts?
Does that mean LIV is more popular 🤔

Most of the posts are from people that apparently have no interest in LIV 🤷‍♂️

Guess that’s the same reason the irritations thread has significantly more posts than the things that gladden the heart thread? Controversial topics tend to get better traction, especially those where people have very strong viewpoints.

I don’t really have an opinion on LIV, I don’t watch it but that’s mainly because it doesn’t suit the timings I’m able to watch tv. I regularly read the thread and it’s rare that the actual golf being played is being discussed, part of that will be down to the fact it’s not on every week though.

Two great rounds by BdC. May be a comparitively easy course, but both were stand-out rounds of the tournament. Hit form a fortnight or so too late.

Richard Bland had a great weekend as well, that solitary DPWT win late in his career has been worth an absolute fortune to him.

Picked up over a million bucks this weekend .

Moving away from politics.

The Liv coverage production is very good.
The studio analysts do a good job, Jerry Foltz and David Feherty are very experienced.

However the on course commentators are truly awful.
I was willing to give them time to ease into the roles and get more comfortable but we are 18 months into doing this now and they are still struggling in my opinion.

Dom Bulet is ok, not great but Su Ann & Troy feel nervous and that makes the viewers nervous..

I'm gonna try this with the young 'un. He's playing off the white tees and has been for some time, but at 5ft 1" and 40 kilo's the courses are stretched out for him off the competition tees. Just out of curiosity and for a bit of fun it's got to be worth seeing what he can score if he's hitting short irons into greens rather than long irons and woods. Probably hits his driver around a 210/220 sort of number, but he does lose some power off the grass - especially out of the rough - so it would be interesting to move him up the hole so he's hitting wedges into most greens, as Bryson does.

Bryson DeChambeau is talking a lot of sense there. It applies to young folk before they develop their full strength, and old ones who are slowly losing it.
