12 under on any course is always a score that should be applauded

its one on a par 70 which whilst it’s still a great achievement ( just like the others) - the 59’s etc on the par 72 by Hadwin and think someone else a lot earlier

But looks like Greenbrier is a course that can produce a lot of birdies - that’s the 3rd under 60 round there
Of course, the par 70 Old White TPC at The Greenbrier is longer than the par 72 La Quinta Country Club.

I’ve played The Ol’ White and it is no pushover, some really quirky holes including an odd ‘redan’ hole. The Greenbrier is an amazing resort in the middle of nowhere - fantastic history (they secret rebuilt the West Wing and Senate under the hotel during the Cold War in case of a need to move the seat of government in event of nuclear war). 4 stunning courses - sort of America’s Gleneagles though on a far larger scale.

I haven't watched any of the tournament (I haven't even looked at the other scores) so this is a genuine question and I'm not trying to have a dig at either side of the argument. Was the course set up short/easy to make low scoring possible or did Bryson simply have one of those miraculous rounds where he hit everything close and holed the putts from distance when he didn't?

The course was a PGAT venue in the past for The Greenbrier Classic

It's a championship course but rain had softened the greens.

I was asking about the set up of the course rather than the course itself. I don't care about what tournaments have been played there in the past as that doesn't make any difference to my question. I've played the Old Course in St Andrews many times, and indeed I played it in Open conditions two days after The Open in 1995, but I haven't played it off the championship tees. Just wondered if it was shorter than usual, set up easier or the rough was less penal. As I said, I wasn't having a dig as a round of 58 is very impressive but was trying to understand just how impressive it was.

The course is known for giving out low scores, and at the start the on course guy was suggesting with the conditions some low were possible.
I'm less interested in actual number, what was impressive for me was his all round game, it was reminiscent of that spell he had previously. Plus when the rain came in late, and he had a small cushion, he didn’t protect it.
Hat off to Bland for hanging with the youngsters also.

It was 7250 yards, so not short by any means. Plenty of low scores out there all weekend so it's safe to say, it wasn't set up tough with long rough etc. However, there is still plenty of trouble on the course. The pin position on the 18th wasn't yielding many birdies yesterday as many players were getting trapped short in the horseshoe ridge which was protecting the flag - indeed Bryson did as well - but with 2 putts available for a 59 it didn't really matter - so his birdie putt was pretty impressive there.

He was on a 59 watch on Saturday as well - ended up with a 61 - so he played 2 rounds of golf with 119 blows - I wasn't far off that in one round yesterday :ROFLMAO:

Highlights are here for anybody that wants to watch them -

Brysons game has been trending for a good while now.

Worth mentioning he shot 119 over the weekend,

Quite a lot of chat during the broadcast yesterday about who will be relegated from the series this year, with the bottom 4 definitely going (Team captains are exempt - which I'm sure a few of them are grateful for as they are right in the mix).

There's a few down there now that will be getting a little nervous, and I suspect there's a few over on The Asian Tour International series now starting to think about getting into the qualification event for a shot at LIV next year.

Didn’t Bubba tell his team to drop him if they thought he wasn’t playing well enough?
