The cut is a bit round rounds 1 and 2 of the FA cup, it provides a little bit of interest, occasionally there's an upset when a big name goes out, and it's always great to see a lesser team come through into the later stages, but in real terms, it doesn't hold much commercial value - I suspect not that many people are glued to their screens watching the action.

No cut events are more akin to the champions league, where the vast majority of competitors are credible - and before anybody jumps down my throat, I know that some of the players on LIV still don't fit that criteria, but in a broader sense, the notion of a no cut event is a commercial no brainer.
Which is why the WGCs didn’t need them. All too 50 in the world plus other top names.

I've no idea what you are getting at, or is this just the worst analogy ever made on any forum?

The vast majority of competitors are credible in the Champions League? Last year Rangers, Viktoria Pizen, Dinamo Zagreb, Red Bull Salzburg, Celtic, Copenhagen and Maccabi Haifa were in the tournament. I'm sure a lot of fans didn't say any of them as credible in terms of being able to sustain a credible challenge. The Champions League also eliminates half the sides after the group stages, bit like a cut don't you think?

So, paying customers and fans will be guaranteed to see the top players every day. That’s a good thing right?

Some would say that and its valid.
Some would say we are losing some of the tradition of the sport.

If BdC changed the game, why aren't we all playing 1 length clubs with thick grips and putting like stiff robots?

I admire him for his search for small advantages by looking at the numbers. No worse than someone going for a lesson or a club fitting and looking at the numbers, he just took it to another level. In that sense then yes, maybe he was a trailblazer for really looking at the science of it.

Round One

Great to see Matthew Wolff back playing great.

Brooks looking good despite the distraction of becoming a father.

Lefty loving his new Callaways.

Cam Smith out of sorts.

Low scoring on a soft golf course with zero wind

59 is 59 on any tour.

But 58 is real history.
Is it though ? Really.
Unfortunately it will have the LIV of doubt hanging over it. The lack of credibility of anything LIV with the wider golf world means it will not be taken seriously either. It may well be a great score. But the circus/exhibition, flavour to LIV and nobody effectively breaking 70 just adds to the shrugs of indifference.

12 under on any course is always a score that should be applauded

its one on a par 70 which whilst it’s still a great achievement ( just like the others) - the 59’s etc on the par 72 by Hadwin and think someone else a lot earlier

But looks like Greenbrier is a course that can produce a lot of birdies - that’s the 3rd under 60 round there
